Kaminaki Sekai, Put this on Your Radar

So this manga, I read it on a friend’s recommendation. At first, I thought it would be a generic isekai but I was delighted to see that it wasn’t the case. Kaminaki Sekai no Kamisama Katsudou is a pretty interesting take on your usual isekai formula. After all, a world without gods is relatively unheard of, right?
So welcome back to another edition of “Put This on Your Radar”. The series where we talk about random upcoming animes that caught our eyes. This time of course we are talking about Kaminaki Sekai no Kamikatsudou. As always, first comes the news segment along with an introduction to the anime, and then I will put down my thoughts on it. With that said, let’s get started!
What do we know about Kaminaki Sekai no Kamikatsudou?
Kaminaki Sekai ni Kamisama Katsudou is based on the manga of the same name by Akashiro Aoi and Hangetsuban Sonshou. The manga has been serialized on Monthly Hero’s since May 2019 and is still ongoing. The story is about Yukito, who gets sacrificed in a cult ritual and is then reincarnated in a world without religion. At a certain point, he tries to stop his friend’s execution only to get killed again. But his “previous” god descends and revives him.
The anime will be made by Studio Palette. They’re a relatively new studio but they previously worked on The World’s Finest Assassin which was a massive W. The project will be led by Inaba Yuki. They have not directed an anime before but they haveΒ worked in different positions on Non-Non Biyori, NGNL, World’s Finest Assasin, and Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha. Kitou Akari and Enoki Junya will be starring as the main duo of the series. We don’t have a release window yet but, we know the anime will come out sometime this year.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a PV for this anime yet. But, I suspect we will see one soon enough.
My Thoughts
I dipped into the manga a little to get a feel for the series. And I have to admit, that it is pretty entertaining. If you know a game called Cult of the Lamb, there’s similar stuff in this series too. Of course, it is in a little more serious connotation than Cult of the Lamb but, you’ll get what I mean if you know what Culf of the Lanb is about.
I like seeing weird stories like this in Isekai. Just goes on to show how many ways there are to crack a genre. Yes, we see a lot of usual isekai stuff in here too but, the context to everything is different. And context is important. I like the idea of turning an isekai into this religious/cult thing, it is entertaining.
Conclusion
Well, that is all for now. Let me know what you guys think in the comments below. I will take my leave here. I am quite a bit behind schedule right now. See ya!
