Let’s Talk About Our Last Crusade Season 2…

Article at a glance:
- Alice’s transition into a typical “tsundere” character has diminished her previous charm and maturity.
- The plot in Season 2 is more engaging with increased political intrigue, but character reactions don’t match the built-up tension.
- While the plot has improved, inconsistent animation and worsened dialogue writing hamper the overall experience.

So even when I wrote the anime recommendation article for this week, I admitted that Our Last Crusade would do poorly if I critically reviewed it. But I still used it for this week’s anime recommendation because it is a decent watch and it is fun. This article is different though. Even though I have been enjoying Our Last Crusade Season 2, there are things about it that I don’t like as well.
I can already tell that it will be a little hard to convey my feelings about this anime. On one hand, I do think that some of the stuff in Season 2 is pretty good, on the other, a lot of issues from Season 1 still persist. And some of them have gotten worse with Season 2. So let’s talk about Our Last Crusade Season 2 today, let’s get started.

What do I think of Our Last Crusade Season 2 so far?
Let’s start with the negatives. I liked Alice’s character in Season 1. That was because she came off as mature and sensible for the most part. And her dynamic with Iska was interesting. But now, she comes off as a typical “tsundere” Her interaction with Iska feels cliche and has lost all the charm that was present in Season 1. The side characters continue to be disappointing for the most part. And just like Season 1, there is a lot of exposition in dialogs. I feel like the dialog writing is worse in Season 2 but that’s probably because of how cliche scenes with Alice and Iska feel.
Sisbell and Elletear are a good addition to the cast. Sisbell’s dynamic with Iska can still use some improvement but overall, they’re good additions overall. And moving on to more positive stuff, the plot for Season 2 is definitely better. Things are a lot more interesting now with a lot of politics and different factions involved in the mix. The Emperor and Salinger remain as the wild cards and it will be interesting to see what they do in this season. I just wish that the characters acted per all this tension the plot has built up.

Rin was perfect as the stoic strong type who took a while to trust others. But Season 2 has kind of messed up her character too. The animations are oddly inconsistent. There are times when they look amazing but then there are times when they just look flat and lame. I don’t know what’s that about. I still like the character designs though, that’s for sure. The soundtracks are pretty average so nothing much to comment on there.
That is all for now!
So even though I have been enjoying Our Last Crusade Season 2, I have issues with it. I can’t score this anime more than a 6/10 right now even though again, I have been enjoying it. But yeah, let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here. See ya!
