VTuber Legend is Unhinged and I love It!

Article at a glance:

  • VTuber Legend excels with its unhinged humor and surprisingly well-written characters, blending both to create engaging dynamics.
  • The anime showcases strong character interactions, particularly highlighting Awayuki’s relationships with Chami, Mashiro, and her mentorship of Kaeru.
  • The anime’s catchy opening and unique ending themes contribute to its overall enjoyable experience, enhancing each episode’s focus and mood.

Man, this anime is better than it has any right to be. Yes, VTuber Legend is mostly just unhinged fun and that alone would’ve made this anime an enjoyable experience. And I know that most people watch it for the comedy alone, which is totally fine. But if you look deeper, this anime has a surprisingly good understanding of its characters. And I can’t help but appreciate small things like that. This and Shikanoko will be hard to review because they’re mostly just nonsense comedies, but the review is still a few weeks away.

So yeah, welcome back to another one of my mid-season reviews. Today we will be talking about VTuber Legend. I know I am a little late, episode 8 rolled out last week but hey, better late than never so here I am. I am working on another big review for this week so stay tuned for that. For now, though, let’s get into this crazy anime.

No, I am NOT going to explain this scnreenshot

What do I think of VTuber Legend so far?

Where do I want to start? Let’s start with the surface-level aspect of the show, the comedy. This anime leans heavily into the thirsty side of comedy and that makes sense given how big of a fan Awayuki was of certain people before becoming a VTuber herself. And the live chats are also kind of realistic adding even more to the humor of certain scenes. There are a bunch of different anime/manga references thrown in as well to spice up the comedy further.

I know comedy is subjective but I enjoy this anime’s comedy a lot and it has made my stomach hurt on multiple occasions.

Now, let’s talk about an aspect of the show a lot of people will miss. The characters are surprisingly good. We get a few episodes that are just uhinged comedy and certain episodes are more character-focused. And I love this mix-up. The characters are surprisingly well-written. Despite all her crazy comments, Awayuki is a surprisingly mature person. Her relationships with Chami and Mashiro were highlighted in Episodes 7 and 8 respectively and I love their dynamics. She is also serving as a good mentor to Kaeru.

And sometimes I really do feel like the comedy works because the characters are good. I wished to see a little more development for certain characters like Sei or Hikari but that can always come later. We still have 4 more episodes to go and then hopefully we will get a second season as well. The animations are decent and all but the opening and ending themes are great. The ending themes are generally performed by the character who was focused on during the episode and the opening theme is crazy, upbeat, and catchy. I love it.

That is all for now!

So yeah, those were my thoughts on VTuber Legend so far. I have been thoroughly enjoying this anime so far and I love it, I’d give it an easy 8/10 as of now. With that said, I will take my leave here. Gotta go listen to some more Leyndell, Royal Capital OST. See ya!

Oh and, check out my favorite episodes from last week here!
