No Way, Renji COOKED! Bleach TYBW Part 3 Episode 7 Review

Article at a glance:
- The episode added a new fight between Renji and Uryu, showcasing Renji’s improved Bankai and giving him a moment to shine, which was absent in the manga.
- The anime portrayal gives Uryu a more significant and impactful presence as part of Yhwach’s Royal Guard, contrasting with his less prominent role in the source material.
- Episode 7 is around 80% anime-original content, effectively enhancing the Wahrwelt arc and adding depth to character dynamics not present in the manga.

If you’ve been a part of the Bleach community, you’d know that Renji is one of the most memed characters for always losing his fights. Now, Bleach TYBW Part 3 Episode 7 might not have changed that record, the whole reason I writing this review is because at least this episode gave him a chance to shine. The source material didn’t give him a moment like this, at all. And again, with Uryu, it actually feels like he is an important part of Yhwach’s Royal Guard whereas in the manga, things weren’t so clean.
I know this is the third time I am doing an article on TYBW Part 3, but the anime has been giving us so much new content that I just have to talk about it. So yeah, welcome to my review of Bleach TYBW Part 3 Episode 7, Gate of the Sun. Let’s get started. Of course, spoilers ahead.
Bleach TYBW Part 3 Episode 7 Review

Like most episodes in Part 3 so far, Episode 7 also consisted of mostly original content. Only parts of the episode are from the manga but about 80 is anime original content. This episode formally kicks off the Wahrwelt arc and starts setting up upcoming confrontations. So we got Lille Barro vs. Shunsui’s group and Mayuri and Zaraki ended up taking a different route. What we didn’t have in the manga though was this fight between Uryu and Renji. And let me tell you, it was an amazing fight.
This fight did an amazing job of showcasing how strong Renji has become and just how versatile his new Bankai is. You see, in the manga, he only used it once. With this newly added fight in the anime though, this Bankai actually feels like his Bankai. It retains the abilities of his old Bankai and his Shikai while getting whole new moves. The fight also conveys that he is yet to master it fully despite a strong showcase of power against Uryu. And character-wise, this fight was important to him as well because he never calls Uryu by his name throughout the fight.

Renji and Uryu have fought together before. Sure, they may not be close friends but they still know each other well. And this fight conveyed that emotional weight well. Uryu again got some brand new moves to show off with his Vollstandig. And at this point, I feel like Uryu has a thing for shooting people through the chest lol. The next episode should kick off Mayuri’s fight and I look forward to it. The Part 3 anime has been amazing so far and the sheer amount of new content they are giving us makes me happy.
That is all for now
So yeah, this new Renji vs. Uryu fight was amazing. It was well-animated and the camera work was fantastic. It wasn’t just a showcase of new moves though as it spoke a lot of Renji’s character as well. Ultimately, I am glad that he just got another chance to show off his strength in the anime. I look forward to the next episode. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
