  • The story follows the budding romance between trendy, outgoing Suzuki and quiet, frank Tani, offering a cliche but sweet and enjoyable romance.

I am always happy to see a simple romance manga get an anime adaptation. The genre is often roped in with drama and stuff like that. And while I don’t hate those inclusions, it is always nice to see a simple romance once in a while. You and I Are Polar Opposites is one such example of a classic romance story. Just the title of the manga tells you pretty much everything you need to know about it. Combine that simple romance plot line with charming character and a unique art style and you’ve got yourself something quite enjoyable.

I was planning on talking about this manga in the future but since the anime adaptation for it was just announced, let’s talk about it right now. Welcome to Put This on Your Radar – the series where I talk about upcoming anime that caught my eye. And today we are talking about You and I Are Polar Opposites!

About You and I Are Polar Opposites

The anime will be based on the manga of the same name by Koucha Asagawa. Believe it or not, the manga also concludes tomorrow, 25th November 2024. It had been serialized online on Shounen Jump+ since May 2022. It originally started as a one-shot in January 2021. The manga is quite short at just 8 volumes and 65 chapters. Sadly though, we will have to wait a long time for the anime adaptation as it is scheduled for a January 2026 release. That is pretty crazy lol. Lapin Track will make the anime.

The manga’s title pretty much explains the whole premise. Suzuki is a trendy, outgoing girl, and next to her sits the quiet and frank Tani. Suzuki often pesters Tani will random questions which he answers to the best of his ability and as this small talk continues, both of them start developing feelings for each other. Something happens that leads to Suzuki confessing her love for Tani and he reciprocates. The rest of the story follows them figuring things out and the other typical romance stuff. It is quite cute and wholesome.

My Thoughts

The fact that we have to wait till January 2026 for the anime is pretty crazy lol. As I said though, the manga is pretty short. So you can always check that out if you wish. The art style alone makes the manga worth it, in my opinion. I really wish that they announced this anime adaptation a bit later so we didn’t have to wait as long but oh well. Lapin Track is a pretty good studio though. They made the Wotakoi OVA, Undead Girl Murder Farce, and the Shoushimin Series all of which are pretty good. So I do think that the anime is in good hands.

As I said, it is always nice to see a straightforward simple romance story once in a while. Yes, it is cliche at times but damn it man, I love myself some sweet and wholesome romance. Some of my all-time favorite romance animes are Horimiya and Wotakoi lol.

That is all for now

So yeah, that’s enough yapping for now. I look forward to You and I Are Polar Opposites anime even though it is ages away. But yeah, let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here. See ya!
