Summer 2025 best anime – My Favorites So far!

Article at a glance:
- Summer 2025 is stacked, after a couple of dry seasons, we finally have way too many good shows dropping at once.
- These are just my favorites so far, not a definitive ranking, just what I’ve enjoyed the most this season.
- Plenty of variety, from wholesome romances to chaotic comedies and even political intrigue, this season really has it all.

As the title says, these are just what I think are the best anime of Summer 2025 so far. In other words, my favorites. Of course, I have not watched everything, and hence, I do not claim this list to be absolute. You don’t have to share my opinions. But Summer 2025 has been an awesome season so far, and I say that even though I haven’t yet caught up with certain shows I want to watch. Like, I haven’t even started the new season of Seishun Butayarou yet because I have to rewatch a bunch of stuff before getting into that.
And despite all that, despite the “slacking off” on my part, I just know that this seaosn is awesome. Do you know why? Because I have plenty of content to write, LOL. You don’t understand how tough the last season was for me as a content creator. I had to legit think of random topics to make articles on. But the complaining aside, as a fan, it does feel nice to have multiple shows to look forward to every week.
But that’s enough rambling for now. Welcome back to another article, and today, we will be going over what I think are the best Summer 2025 anime. The list is in random order, and it will be completely spoiler-free. With all that disclaimer out of the way, let’s start with the obvious pick:
The Fragrant flower blooms with Dignity

Yeah, I don’t think anyone’s surprised with this entry. This is probably the best anime of Summer 2025 all around. It’s been a while since a romance show has clicked with me this well, probably since Horimiya. And there is nothing fancy about Fragrant Flower either; it is a very generic love story. But the execution and character writing have been so beautifully handled so far.
The show does not shy away from exploring deeper topics like anxiety to build character. And CloverWorks has been doing such a fantastic job presenting these character struggles and monologues compellingly. This anime is basically everything you need from a romance anime: relatable characters, realistic stakes, good character development, and no unnecessary drama. It’s cute and wholesome, and occasionally, it will make you cry, but you might also get diabetes watching this, so that balances out.
My Dress-Up Darling Season 2

From one romance to another. MDUD Season 2 has been better than Season 1, in my opinion, as we are starting to explore Gojo’s character a lot more now. Marin has always had a strong and quirky character, while Gojo has always been kind of passive. So all this recent character growth for Gojo feels good to see. Season 2 also feels a lot funnier than Season 1. I don’t know what changed, but I appreciate it.
But yeah, it is more of the MDUD chaos we all fell in love with back in Season 1. Now we have more of it, along with better character arcs, it seems, which is awesome. Keep everything people liked and make it better, always how Season 2s should be.
Dandadan Season 2

I was mixed on Dandadan Season 1. I liked it, of course, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of it. So then why is Dandadan Season 2 on this list? Did Season 2 fix all of Season 1’s issues? Nope. Not at all, actually. Season 2 still has the same pacing and contrivance issues. So then why do I like Season 2? Well. Because it took everything Season 1 did well and turned it up to 11.
Like the absurdity factor, the chaos between Momo and Aira, the awkward romance between Momo and Okarun, the action, the comedy, whatever have you. They just took the strong parts of Season 1 and dialed them up till the dial broke. And I have to appreciate that lol. When a show is willing to commit this hard to its absurdity, you just have to stand back and appreciate it. We had half an episode about an absolutely banger concert that was absurdly well animated, and I loved every moment of it.
Grand Blue Season 2

Oh yeah, speaking of turning up the absurdity to 11…yeah, man, it doesn’t get better than this. Grand Blue is already one of my favorite comedy anime of all time, and it feels so good getting a 2nd season after all this time. This anime is the definition of the “you’re just as beautiful as the day I lost you” meme. Yes, all the insanity is back, all the crazy expressions are, and of course, the booze is back.
I don’t get it, bro. This anime can have the most unhinged conversation you could imagine, come up with the most insane gags possible, and then turn around and have a genuine lesson about youth and life right the next moment over. Also, knowing that Uchida Maaya (Nanaka) and Uchida Yuma (Iori) are actual siblings IRL made the awkward moments between their characters so much funnier LOL.
Silent Witch

I recently did an article on this show, and once again, I just have to appreciate how well-rounded this show is. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, and yet at the same time, it has a very interesting plot filled with political intrigue and some genuinely great character moments. First of all, the premise itself writes the jokes. Imagine being so socially anxious that you end up inventing a way to cast magic without incantations because you’re too afraid to speak in public.
The whole show is basically about this socially awkward, introverted, legendary witch trying to fit in with high society children while on an undercover mission to protect the second prince of the country. And as I said, thanks to that premise, we get everything from absurd humor to shoujo baits to awesome character and plot moments.
That is all for now
And yeah, those are my favorite shows from the Summer 2025 season so far, and all of them deserve a spot on the top 10 anime of 2025 list. I feel like once I am done with the Summer 2025 season, most entries on that list would end up being from this season because of how dry Winter and Spring were. Let me know what you guys think in the comments, though. I will take my leave here. See ya!
