May I Ask for One Final Thing is Awesome!

Article at a glance:
- May I Ask for One Final Thing takes a familiar setup and turns it into pure chaos, and it’s honestly a blast to watch.
- After years of suffering, our noble lady just snaps, and proceeds to punch her way through societal norms (and people).
- The story isn’t groundbreaking, but who cares when it’s this entertaining? Sometimes, you just want to see someone lose it in style.

See, now this is how you create a memorable twist on a tried-and-true format. Is it stupid? Yeah, it is. But is it fun? Oh, it is absolutely fun. I don’t know how long the plot will have wind for, but at the time of writing, May I Ask for One Final Thing is a thoroughly entertaining show. It’s like imagine if someone had a real bad crashout one day after years of suffering and just started punching people. That is what this anime is, and I just don’t know why something about that premise just speaks to me.
Welcome back to another First Impressions article. Today, we are talking about May I Ask for One Final Thing. Crack your fists, boys, this is a fun one. So let’s get right into it.

My Thoughts on May I Ask for One Final Thing So far
Look, I won’t pretend that the plot is super deep or anything. So far, the plot has been servicable. But guess what? It doesn’t even matter. The whole premise of a noble lady just crashing out after enduring a lifetime of suffering is way too appealing. The anime starts with a pretty traditional villainess rejection scene at a party. We have seen the same scene play out in so many shows, it’s not even funny. But this anime does make it funny. Scarlet wastes no time in punching the new girl to the face.
And then she proceeds to knock out everyone present in the room with a punch. As funny as it was, the anime does a pretty good job of justifying Scarlet’s frustration with the noble society in the episode. So it is a completely justified crashout, if you ask me. The side characters are going to need a lot of work, but Scarlet makes for a compelling protagonist. She has such a well-defined personality, and it is always a joy to see her reactions to different things. Be her cold annoyance or a straight-up beating, she is always entertaining.

My main concern with this show is how long the novelty factor of the premise and Scarlet’s character can carry the plot. The plot isn’t super interesting or anything, and the same goes for the side characters. As of now, both the premise and Scarlet’s character are fresh and remain consistently entertaining. But I could see this reliance being an issue a few episodes down the line.
That is all for now
But yeah, May I Ask for One Final Thing is off to a great start. As I said, I do have some concerns about the narrative, but as of right now, it is an easy 8/10. It is a lot of fun and has a fun premise and a great protagonist. So let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here. See ya!
