One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 5 Just Makes me Sad…

Article at a glance:
- Episode 5 shows the team’s passion loud and clear, but also exposes how badly the production is being squeezed by Bandai’s tight schedule and resources.
- Despite the usual Season 3 flaws, stiff backgrounds, awkward close-ups, and some janky cuts — both major fights still hit hard, with Orochi vs. Garou easily stealing the show.
- The episode is fun, but it’s also a reminder that the manga’s visuals are on another level… and that this season could’ve been SOOO much better if Bandai actually let it.

Now, don’t get me wrong, Episode 5 was pretty damn good. But the fact that you can see how hard the team is working to make this show work despite their super limited time and resources is just sad. Episode 5 makes it pretty clear that there are some passionate people working on One Punch Man Season 3, but they just weren’t given enough time and resources to make this anime as good as it could be. As I said in my previous article, the blame for all this should be squarely placed on Bandai.
But, you know me, this whole season has been a great content farm for me. So welcome back to yet ANOTHER article on One Punch Man Season 3, and today, we are talking about Episode 5. Arguably, the most anticipated episode of this season. So let’s get started.
Of course, spoilers ahead.

What did I think of One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 5?
As I said, the episode overall is pretty good. Yes, we still have some of the consistent flaws of Season 3, like weirdly static backgrounds, weird close-ups during dialogs, and some scenes with just janky animations. But they certainly tried their best to make both fights in this episode feel impactful. The Overgrown Pochi fight is the weaker of the two, but it still looked pretty good. They did a great job with Pochi’s energy blasts and how destructive they were. The sound effects could’ve been a little better, but the blasts looked pretty good.
Again, the fight wasn’t perfect; there were some camera angles that made Pochi look smaller than he should. But then the next fight is enough to make up for it. So we finally get to see the Monster King, Orochi, face-to-face for the first time. And yeah, sure, he looks big and scary the first time around. But then mid-fight, bro legit transforms into an Eldritch monstrosity, Bro literally hits Garou with that Placidusax’s Ruin, complete with the extra heads and everything.

And as you know, that boy Garou just got the DAWG in him. He ain’t backing away from a fight even if it is against a giant-ass monster that can literally turn into an Eldritch entity. Garou is also talking mad shit like “I will show you what fear is” and stuff, and MAN, Orochi pulls out Garou’s own fighting stance against him. There’s a weird cut at the end of the fight, and I wish they animated that too, but other than that, this is the best episode of One Punch Man Season 3 by far.
That is all for now
I think you can tell that I actually had fun with this episode. And even though this episode was good, here’s the thing: the manga just looks 10 times better. Look at how insane Orochi looks in the anime. And again, they tried their best, they really did. But it does seem like Bandai kind of hellbent on putting out these sequels as fast as they can without even giving them proper time to cook. With that said, though, I will take my leave here. See ya!
