Witch Hat Atelier Has Been Amazing So Far

Article at a glance:
- Despite the high expectations set by the trailers, the anime has managed to exceed them with near-perfect animation and a plot that serves as an immediate hook.
- From the emotional urgency of Coco’s mission to save her mother to the mysterious arrival of the Brimmed Hats, the story balances personal stakes with a larger, unfolding mystery.
- Beyond the unique and consistent magic system, the evolving bond between Coco and her fellow students under Qifrey stands out as the show’s strongest emotional core.

So I think most of us already knew that this anime would be great based on all the trailers and stuff. But I can confidently say, Witch Hat Atelier successfully blew me away. 6 episodes in, and the anime has been damn near perfect so far. The plot has been a very interesting hook, the animations look fantastic, and even the character writing so far has been great. I am very hooked and interested in seeing where the story goes from here on. Yeah, if that isn’t a tone setter for this article, I don’t know what is.
So welcome back to another mid-season review, and today we are talking about Witch Hat Atelier. There will be spoilers ahead because I may talk about something important. But yeah, with all that said, let’s just get started.

What do I think of Witch Hat Atelier so far?
So right off the bat, the story has a really strong hook. I think we all knew that Coco would end up figuring out how to use magic in Episode 1, but I don’t think anyone expected it to be something that engulfed her whole house. The first episode does a great job of establishing Coco’s relationship with her mother, which helps raise stakes and urgency when the magic spell goes wrong. Episode 1 is the perfect setup for a series like this. And then Episode 2 does a good job of giving the story some long-term goals.
My main criticism of the show is that sometimes we tend to forget what’s at stake here. Because if Coco doesn’t succeed, she can lose her mom forever. But that’s a minor issue because then the whole plot with the Brimmed Hats takes off. And apparently, they had been waiting for Coco, so it will be interesting to see what that’s about. I really like how the girls handled the dragon because they knew they couldn’t fight that thing head-on. And of course, the magic system is very interesting and pretty consistent.

By far, the main draw of the has to be the group dynamic between Coco and her fellow students under Qifry. While Qifry himself is interesting as well, I really wish he didn’t remind me so much of Gojo Satoru lol. Either way, I really like how the group dynamic between the students has been evolving. And I am sure it will continue to be a highlight of the show going forward.
That is all for now
But yeah, that’s all I got for now. So let me know what you guys think in the comments. Witch Hat Atelier has quickly become a must-watch for me this season. That too in a season filled with some really good shows as is. So yeah, I will take my leave here. See ya!
