This was a nice surprise NOT from Jump Festa 2024. Other than One Piece Remake, this was the biggest surprise announcement in recent memory. I didn’t expect an old series like Code Geass to get a new sequel movie series. Then again, Blue Exorcist and Rurouni Kenshin are coming back too, so I shouldn’t really be too surprised. But, Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture will be a movie series that will serve as a sequel to Lelouch of the Resurrection. Yes, not the OG Code Geass, but the rebooted timeline. Meaning Lelouch is still alive and kicking.
So welcome back to another news article. Today we are finally talking about something outside of the Jump Festa. Let’s look at everything we know about Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture today! Let’s get started.
What do we know about Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture?
As mentioned earlier, this will be a movie series that will serve as a sequel to Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection. It has been confirmed that there will be 4 installments to this series. There was a special screening of the original anime for Lelouch’s birthday and during that event, we got quite a few details about Roze of the Recapture. Kouhei Amasaki and Makoto Furukawa will be starring as the main characters, Roze and Ash respectively.
The first installment of the series will be coming out in May 2024. Yoshimitsu Oohashi will be directing the series at Sunrise, of course. The whole series is a Sunrise original, after all. MIYAVI is performing the opening theme for the series “Running In My Head” which is also previewed in the trailer. Speaking of the trailer, you can check it out here!
Now, let’s move on to
Code Geass was probably the 2nd or 3rd anime I ever watched so the series will always hold a special place in my heart. It also helps that the series is really good and I loved the rebooted timeline as well. It will be very interesting to see how they follow up the story. Of course, it looks like we have a fresh cast since Lelouch’s story has already concluded, and drawing it out further would be pointless. And I already like Roze and Ash’s designs. I have missed this unique and quirky art style of Code Geass so much, I am glad they are still sticking to it.
Also, I have NOT watched Akito the Exhiled spin-off but I’ve heard people say that this sequel might be related to that. I will go check that out right after finishing this article. And apparently, Sunrise wanted to keep the names of the main characters a secret because it is sort of spoiler-y so that is very interesting as well.
That is all for now!
I am really excited about this series. And I hope that Sunrise COOKS with this anime. They usually do and the animes they make are amazing so I am going to just trust them on this one too. Either way, let me know what you guys think. I will take my leave here. See ya!
