Cafe Terrace and its Goddesses Season 2 Review

Article at a glance:

  • Season 2 shows significant improvements in writing and character dynamics compared to Season 1, with Hayato and the girls receiving consistent development.
  • Despite solid storytelling, excessive fan service detracts from the overall experience, often feeling overplayed and unnecessary.
  • The animations and soundtracks are unremarkable, with generic visuals and an over-reliance on freeze frames in a season filled with standout productions.

Okay, I won’t do a regular formatted review for The Cafe Terrace and its Goddesses Season 2. That’s because there are a whole bunch of things I want to say about it and it’d be very hard to divide them up into sections like I usually do for my reviews. So I do apologize for that. But I’d say that Season 1 has been a decent improvement over Season 1 in pretty much every category except for the animations and I did enjoy it despite its flaws.

So yeah, welcome to another one of my reviews and today we are talking about Cafe Terrace and its Goddesses Season 2. There is quite a bit I want to say about this anime so let’s just get right into it.

What did I think of Cafe Terrace and Its Goddesses Season 2?

Right off the bat, the writing in general is quite a bit better than Season 1. I know it may not seem like it but this show really does have some good characters. Even the MC, Hayato is pretty well-written. He gets consistent character development, just like the girls. The focus episodes for the girls have also gotten better with Season 2, leaning in further on the family aspect. The story overall for Season 2 was pretty good as well aside from a few cliches and contrivances that made my eyes roll.

But yeah, everything from the character writing to the plot for Season 2 has been pretty solid. The character dynamics are also an improvement over season 1 as they are a lot more fun to watch now. My main complaint for Season 2, just like Season 1 has to be the fan service. Sometimes it is funny but a lot of times, especially here in Season 2 it just made my eyes roll. The episodes without any fan service are so much better, it’s not even funny. I really wish they toned the fan service down just a little because it just feels overplayed at times.

The production is also unremarkable. In the Summer 2024 season, almost every single anime has amazing animations so the generic animations and reliance on freeze frames are just off-putting at times. No disrespect to the artist but the opening theme is kind of annoying because of the auto-tune and the ending theme is decent but unremarkable.

Summing up

Here are my final scores for The Cafe Terrace and its Goddesses Season 2:

  • Plot – 7/10
  • Characters – 8/10
  • Animations – 6/10
  • Soundtracks – 5/10
  • Enjoyment – 7/10
  • Overall – 6.5

So yeah, that is all for now. Those were my thoughts and opinions on this anime. I really enjoy the characters in this anime, I wish it focused even more on them instead of relying on fan service again and again. But I did have fun watching it. But yeah, that’s all for now. See ya!
