DanMachi Season 5 Episode 1, Let’s Talk About It…
Article at a glance:
- Despite a light-hearted start, the episode quickly dives into setting up the next arc, raising many questions, especially about the character Syr and her connection to Freya Familia.
- While the storytelling is strong, the animation quality remains a concern, echoing issues from Season 4, which could diminish the impact of the upcoming action sequences.
I did not even plan on making this article today oh well, here we are. DanMachi Season 5 Episode 1 is here and boy did it surprise me. Despite the overall light-hearted tone of the episode, it did a great job of setting up the upcoming arc. And it left me with tons of questions. This is why I am writing this article. I thought the first episode would be chill, just some catching up after the intensity of Season 4 has passed and all… and while we did get that, this episode had a lot more plot than I expected.
Of course, I can’t talk about it much more without spoiling it so here’s your spoiler warning. Welcome back to another first impressions article, The Fall 2024 season is starting to take off and today we are talking about DanMachi Season 5 Episode 1! Let’s get started!
What did I think of DanMachi Season 5 Episode 1?
As I said, the episode starts off pretty light-hearted, Lilli and Haruhime have leveled up after their experiences in the dungeon and we learn that Hestia is busy because of the upcoming goddess festival. Given that this arc is named after the festival and all the promotional art, it is pretty clear that it will focus on Freya and her Familia. Hestia Famili and Freya Familia haven’t exactly been on the best terms in the past. So it will be interesting to see how all that plays out.
We also see Freya in the post-credits scene of episode 1. So that brings me to my next question, who the hell is Syr? We know that all the maids that work at that tavern are former or inactive adventurers like Ryu, Syr always seemed like the most normal one among them but well, I guess that wasn’t true. She seems to be a really high-ranking member of the Freya Familia given how close she is to Freya and how much the other members respect her. But why? How? Just who the hell is Syr? This one episode raised so many questions about her.
Season 5 sure has started with a bang. I didn’t expect the first episode to be this good but here we are talking about it. My only major complaint with Season 4 was the animation quality and it looks like it’ll be the same for Season 5 as well. This is honestly a shame. Imagine how much better those intense action sequences from Season 4 would look if DanMachi had an animation budget of something like Wistoria. But, oh well, we just have to deal with it.
That is all for now!
So yeah, DanMachi Season 5 Episode 1 was awesome and I look forward to seeing more of it. I am very interested in arc now and how could I not be? The 1st episode was a banger. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
