Uzumaki Episode 2 was CREEPY! Best Episodes of the Week!

Article at a glance:

  • Dandadan Episode 1 – Despite some skepticism going in, this episode impressed with its fun banter between Momo and Ken, engaging action, and smooth animation, though excessive fan service is a concern.
  • DanMachi Season 5 Episode 1 – A light-hearted start that quickly reveals Syr’s surprising connection to the Freya Familia, setting the stage for a deeper conflict between the Freya and Hestia Familias.

Before I start this article. I would like to clarify some things. This article is only based on episodes that I watched this week. Not all episodes scheduled for Sunday are out at the time of writing. And of course, I’m only human, I have limited time and I was quite overwhelmed by the amount of new releases this week. So please consider all that. But I am sure we all can agree that Uzumaki Episode 2 was pure nightmare fuel.

I watched about 10 or 11 new releases this week and well, these are the 6 episodes I ended up picking for this week’s list. Given the sheer volume of the Fall 2024 season, it is very likely that this list may grow bigger in the upcoming weeks. But yeah, we had some banger episodes this week, quite a few shows had amazing opening episodes and I can’t wait to talk about them all.

So welcome back to another Best Episodes of the Week article! It is the first week of the Fall 2024 season. So let’s talk about everything from Uzumaki Episode 2 to Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 13!

Dandadan Episode 1

Yes, I did have my issues with this episode, but I think it was pretty entertaining overall. I went into this anime with skepticism, but this episode caught me. The episode did a great job of introducing everything relevant to the plot, it had some decent action while not taking itself too seriously. And, of course, the art looked amazing. I love the monster and character designs and the animations are smooth and dynamic.

But what I enjoyed the most in this episode had to be the banter between Momo and Ken. Their dynamic is so much fun and I really want to see more of it. My only issue so far is the excessive fan service, I hope that doesn’t become a problem later on.

DanMachi Season 5 Episode 1

This was another great episode. The episode started light-hearted and simple with a quick catch-up of how everyone is doing after the craziness of Season 4. We get a small celebration in the tavern and stuff, you know, the usual. We know now that all the maids from the tavern are former adventurers. Syr seemed to be just a maid who wasn’t a familia member or something, just a maid. Well, color me surprised, she is apparently quite an important member of the Freya Familia.

And of course, the Hestia Familia and the Freya Familia have a history together. Let’s see how this goes.

Blue Box Episodes 1 & 2

I don’t know what kind of release schedule Netflix has for this anime, you may not have gotten Episode 2 depending on where you live. Don’t worry, I won’t spoil it or anything. But yeah, I did get to watch Episode 2 this week as well. A character-driven shounen is such a rarity these days. I am glad that Blue Box is getting the respect it deserves now. I know it has only been two episodes but the character dynamics have been amazing.

Both of our leads, Taiki and Chinatsu have been compelling so far, the side characters are great and the show looks great on top of all that. And I like the crisp pacing the anime has so far. I cannot wait to see more of it.

Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 13

I just talked about this episode so I will keep this section short. Continuing the trend of the last episode, this episode brought back so many traumatic memories from Season 1. From the last episode, we knew that Gorou was missing but Ruby and Akane found his corpse. This episode focused on how much that affected Ruby. love how the position of the twins is pretty much opposed now. Ruby has fallen into the darkness of revenge while Aqua is the one who is trying to move on to the light.

Tsukuyomi then went ahead and told Ruby exactly what she needed to hear to send her further into the abyss. Yeah, season 3 is going to be wild.

Bleach TYBW Part 3 Episode 1

Despite almost half of this episode being a recap, this episode still managed to surpass my expectations. The expansion of the fight between the Zero Division and the Royal Guard has done so much for both factions. The Zero Division looked like jokes in the manga, while in the anime both Senjumaru and Ichibei shined a lot more. And because of this. Uryu got to show off Schrift as well. He did nothing in the manga till the ending, while in the anime, he looked like a total badass.

Of course, the animations were fantastic. The scene of Yhwach creating stairs out of Reiishi or Uryu manifesting Reiishi wings and stuff looked so damn good. And then there was the post-credits scene, What a start…

Uzumaki Episode 2

After watching Uzumaki Episode 2, I was just left with a singular thought in my mind: “What in the actual hell did I just watch?” Mind you, I’ve read the Uzumaki manga twice but seeing the human snails in animation was much creepier. Yeah, you heard me right, human snails. They also laid eggs! Don’t even get me started on how creepy and disgusting their slow transformation into snails was. Also, let’s not forget that a couple turned into literal snakes and tangled with each other… and THE HAIR, oh god THE HAIR!

Yeah, this anime truly gives life to the Junji Itou horror. It has been perfect so far. I look forward to next week’s episode even though I know that it will only get worse from this point on. Also, remember the lighthouse, it will be important again later.

That is all for now

So yeah, let me know what you guys think in the comments. I hope you had a good week and I hope you have another good week ahead of you! The fall 2024 season is here and it is just as awesome as I expected so far. I watched Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 13 and Uzumaki Episode 2 back to back just a while ago… Yeah, bad idea and now I need something to calm me down. So I’ll be off, see ya!

Side note: I love how this list had everything from wholesome romance to grotesque body horror.
