Studio Pierrot and Asahi Productions Have Partnered up…

Article at a glance:

  • Studio Pierrot and Asahi Productions have signed a partnership agreement to share staff and technology, easing production loads and enhancing future projects.
  • The partnership is expected to impact upcoming anime like Bleach TYBW Part 4, potentially improving working conditions and production quality.
  • Optimism surrounds the partnership, viewing it as beneficial for both studios without the risks associated with mergers or acquisitions.

I try to stay away from “industry news” like this because I usually don’t care about what companies are doing behind the scenes. Usually. This is one of those cases where I have to talk about it because the implications of something like this could be big in the future. So Studio Pierrot and Asahi Productions have signed a partnership agreement. It is not a merger or anything crazy like that, it is just a partnership agreement. But I’ll explain why this is a big deal as I cover the details of the agreement.

I found a lot of corporate speak while I was researching this partnership. I will try my best to simplify all that in this article, If I make a mistake, please feel free to correct me. So let’s talk about this Studio Pierrot/Asahi Productions partnership deal.

About Studio Pierrot and Asahi Productions Partnership

Pierrot is, of course, known for making Naruto and Bleach. As for the Asahi Productions, the latest “big” project they worked on was Gushing Over Magical Girls. And my feelings on that show aside, it did have amazing animations. So what is this partnership deal about? Well, both studios have agreed to share staff and tech between them. It is also strongly implied that both studios will work together on all upcoming projects. Well, it’s the “all” part I am not sure about. But yeah, they will help each other out in future projects.

This was basically done to reduce the load on the individual studios and be more robust against competition. But yeah, that covers all the important details of this partnership, I think. So let’s move on to

My Thoughts

It is no secret that I am a massive Bleach fan. So when I heard of this partnership, the first question in my head was “What does this mean for Bleach TYBW Part 4?”. Part 4 will come out late next year and this partnership is sure to affect it. Overall though, I do think that this partnership is a positive thing. Especially if the load of the ground-level staff is reduced because of this [partnership. We all know that the working standards for the ground-level staff in the animation industry aren’t very good.

And you know, if we get better animes because of it on top of being better for the staff, I don’t see anything wrong with this partnership at all. And you know, it is a partnership, not an acquisition or a merger. I am quite a bit more reserved about acquisitions and mergers. But you know, you lose nothing in a partnership so I really don’t see a reason to be against something like this.

That is all for now

It will be interesting to see what comes of this partnership in the long term. For now, I am optimistic about it. But yeah, let me know what you guys think in the comments. This is certainly an interesting development. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
