The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 is one of my most anticipated animes in the upcoming Winter 2025 season. Not gonna lie, the Winter season does look a bit underwhelming at the moment. But I am sure the few big animes it does have like The Apothecary Diaries, Sakamoto Days and Solo Leveling Season 2 will be enough to carry it. A few animes from this season like Orb, Re: Zero, and Blue Box will also continue airing in the Winter 2025 season. So even though the season itself may look underwhelming, I am sure it will be fine given all these factors.

But, we are not here to discuss the Winter 2025 season today. No, we are here to talk about The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 in particular. I want to go over everything we know about this upcoming show as well as the recent trailer and stuff that dropped. Let’s get into it.

What do we know about The Apothecary Diaries Season 2?

So first and foremost, the anime is scheduled to start airing on 10th January 2025. For now, we don’t know what the episode count of Season 2 will be. But I hope that it is 25 episodes long just like Season 1 was. Most of the staff and cast members from Season 1 will be returning to reprise their roles in the series. OLM and Toho Animation will be returning to make the anime as well. The only big change in the staff is that the first season’s director, Norihiro Naganuma is now the chief director.

The assistant director of Season 1, Akimi Fudesaka will be directing Season 2 with the assistant director, Wataru Nakagawa. That’s the only major change other than that, the rest of the staff and cast will remain the same. You can check out the latest trailer here! It came out just 3 days ago at the time of writing. Season 1 covered up to Volume 3 of the LN, Season 2 will of course continue from Volume 4 onwards.

The trailer also previews the new opening theme, “Hyakka Ryouran” by Lilas Ikuta. Let’s move on to

My Thoughts

The ending for Season 1 was pretty damn wild, wasn’t it? Maomao’s family history only gets more complex as things go on. It is strongly implied that Lakan is her father. I don’t think it has been explicitly confirmed yet in the anime but I do think we will get a proper confirmation down the line. Curious to see what Lakan will do in Season 2. His involvement in things towards the end of Season 1 certainly made things more interesting. So we’ll see how things go.

Man, the world this anime has built is so interesting. The politics inside the palace are always intriguing and I like how the politics in this world apply to even the smallest of things. And even interactions that may seem minor may have some info that could be important later on. I really cannot wait for Season 2. There are still so many mysteries to be solved in the palace.

That is all for now!

So yeah, let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here. The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 looks like it will be another crazy season. But yeah, with that said, see ya!
