Do NOT Trust The New Aka Akasaka Manga!

Article at a glance:

  • Aka Akasaka’s New Manga – Marchen Clown/Crown is a fantasy manga launching on March 19th in Weekly Young Jump, with story by Akasaka, composition by Kujira, and art by Record of Ragnarok‘s Ajichika.
  • Akasaka’s Writing Pattern – His stories tend to be great for most of their run but often suffer from weak conclusions, so readers should temper their expectations.
  • Enjoy with Caution – The manga will likely be enjoyable for a while, but fans should brace for a potential decline in quality near the end.

Okay, the title of this article is a half-joke but still. Aka Akasaka is the author of Oshi no Ko and Kaguya-sama and the new manga he has been working on was recently revealed. I don’t discredit Akasaka as an author, I think there are certain things he is great at. But the reason I say don’t trust this manga is that he sucks at writing conclusions to his stories. He will write some amazing stuff for 75% of the manga and then the moment the last arc hits, it will all be downhill. So please, read this new manga with tampered expectations.

I won’t say don’t read his new manga at all—I will probably read it, too. I am just saying don’t get too attached to it, or we will go through the whole terrible ending cycle all over again, and I am so done with that at this point. So yeah, welcome back to another article. Today, we are talking about the new Aka Akasaka manga. Let’s get into it.

About the New Aka Akasaka Manga

I just realized I forgot to mention the name of the manga he’s working on. It’s called Marchen Clown or Marchen Crown… Yeah, don’t blame me, the Katakana クラウン (Kuraun) can be used for both Clown and Crown because of how Japanese works. We will have to wait a bit to figure out which one’s more accurate. Regardless, Akasaka mentioned wanting to make a fantasy manga at some point and here we are. Akasaka will be penning the story, Kujira will be composing the story, and the Record of Raganrok artist, Ajichika will be drawing the manga.

That’s a really good lineup, alright. The manga will be published in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine starting March 19th. The magazine teased it as a fairy tale about a prince and princess guided by fate. I don’t know how to feel about the description but we will see how the manga goes. Remember that Oshi no Ko started as rather wholesome in its own way so…

That covers all the news so let’s move on to

This Akane meme will live on forever, thanks Akasaka.

My Thoughts

As we’ve seen with Akasaka’s previous works, I guarantee you that after some initial build-up, the manga will be really good for a while The character development will be great and the plot will be progressing smoothly. And then all of sudden, the moment you hit the 70-75% mark, the quality will fall off a cliff. So you know, just be prepared for that. I hope that this time for sure ending will be great but I don’t have high hopes for it, unfortunately.

In the meantime though, I think we can all enjoy the manga for what it will be. I don’t know how this manga will fare for Akasaka given how popular Kaguya-sama and Oshi no Ko were but again, it would be interesting to see the reaction of the general audience to this piece. Don’t get too attached and be prepared for a potentially bad ending while enjoying the manga at its prime would be my approach to this, honestly.

That is all for now

Let me know what you guys think in the comments. What do you guys think of the new Aka Akasaka manga? Do you think it will fall into the same bad ending storm as Akasaka’s previous works? With that said though, I will take my leave here. See ya!
