So, Shield Hero Season 4 Episode 2 Dropped…

Article at a glance:

  • I’m three-for-three on frustrated rants this week, and yep, we’re keeping the streak alive with Shield Hero Season 4.
  • Season 1 still holds up, but everything after feels like watching a slow-motion collapse—Season 4 included.
  • Episodes 1 and 2 gave me nothing but more questions, less hope, and a painful reminder of how far this series has fallen.
Poor Fittoria doesn’t deserve to deal with all this bullshit

MAN, I have been on a MEAN STREAK this week. 3 back-to-back articles just complaining and crashing out. I need to find something I like to write a positive article on soon, lmao. But once again, morbid curiosity and the hunger for easy content got the better of me, and I checked out Shield Hero Season 4. It is no secret that I hated Shield Hero Season 3, and while Season 4 has not been offensively bad so far, it hasn’t been good either. Episode 1 and Episode 2 of Shield Hero Season 4 did not do anything to give me any semblance of hope for the future.

And to think that I was out here in the trenches trying to defend Season 2. Though I will always maintain that Shield Hero Season 1 is one of the better isekais out there. Still, welcome back to another article, and today we are talking about Shield Hero Season 4 Episode 1 and Episode 2. Let’s get started.

Hey, at least the opening theme and art are still pretty good, even if the CGI is questionable at times.

What did I think of Shield Hero Season 4 Episode 1 & 2?

Well, we learned out of nowhere at the end of Season 3 that Raphtalia is apparently the royalty of Q’ten Lo, and as such, they sent people to assassinate her so that the current ruler’s position is stronger and all. Why didn’t they try something like this earlier? I have no idea. There were plenty of chances to get rid of Raphtalia, I am sure, but why NOW when she is with ALL FOUR Cardinal Heroes?? But to get to Q’ten Lo, Naofumi needs to cross Siltvelt. And these two episodes are about Silvelt.

As you might expect, getting into a whole new nation that literally worships The Shield Hero introduces us to a lot of people. No, I am not calling all of them characters, only 2 of them are characters so far, and that too barely. Both Werner and the Lion dude want to use Naofumi’s authority to get their goals fulfilled. I do appreciate that Fohl and Atla are getting more background, but it is WILD that in Seasons 3 and 4 (so far) these two kids have more plot relevance than the other 3 heroes.

This dude is an idiot.

It is like the other 3 heroes have completely lost their uniqueness. Well, Motoyasu is unique, but not in a good way. He has only gotten more insufferable. I swear to god, this anime should be called The Fall of the Shield Hero instead. It just progressively keeps getting worse every season. I don’t think I will continue watching Season 4. Well, unless morbid curiosity or content brain gets the better of me once again.

That is all for now

So yeah, Shield Hero Season 4 is off to a limp, confused start. It’s like watching a dying franchise trip over itself while trying to remember why people liked it in the first place. Big yikes. Let me know what you guys think. I will take my leave here. See ya!
