Death Stranding is Getting an Anime???

Article at a glance:
- Kojima Productions revealed a Death Stranding anime titled Death Stranding Isolation, coming to Disney+ in 2027, directed by Takayuki Sano and executive produced by Hideo Kojima himself.
- The anime will be created by E&H Production, the studio behind Ninja Kamui, with potential for greatness given their past work, despite the mixed reception of Ninja Kamui‘s later episodes.
- Fans are eager to see if the anime captures Kojima’s distinct style, loaded with quirky references, dramatic flair, and his signature weirdness that makes anything with his involvement worth watching.

I could’ve sworn that they announced an anime movie for Death Stranding before this announcement as well. Wait, yeah, I just checked, it’s true. There is a movie in the works, tentatively titled Death Stranding Mosquito at ABC Animation Studio. I have no idea why it is called that, but well, it’s Kojima. It will probably somehow be weird as hell but still absolute cinema material. And as if that alone wasn’t enough, Kojima Productions doubled down and decided to hook us up with an anime series as well.
So here we are, I never thought I’d say the words, but Death Stranding, of all things, is getting an anime, and I have no idea what to expect from this. So let’s just get into it and cover everything we know about it.

What do we know about the Death Stranding anime?
About 2 days ago, on November 13th, Kojima Productions randomly popped up at the Disney+ Originals event and dropped this bombshell on us. The show is tentatively titled Death Stranding Isolation, real Alien Isolation flashbacks right there. It will be made by E&H Production. Takayuki Sano will be directing the show, and of course, Hideo Kojima is the executive producer. As you might have guessed, the anime will be a Disney+ exclusive. And lastly, the anime is scheduled for a 2027 debut.
But that covers all the news. As far as a look at the anime goes, we have only gotten a promotional visual, and I do dig the art style. But yeah, let’s move on to

My Thoughts
Well, if you don’t know, E&H Production is the same studio that made Ninja Kamui. And well, to be honest, they clearly have enough talent to make something cool if given the time and budget, as evident by the earlier episodes of Ninja Kamui. I don’t think it is fair to blame them for the downfall of Ninja Kamui post-episode 4. So there is still a good chance that Death Stranding Isolation might be really good. Do I wish that they had picked a studio with a more established reputation? Yes, I do. But this isn’t as bad as some people make it out to be.
Maybe I am high on some cope, but I’ll consume literal slop if it’s made by Kojima, as long as it has the distinct Kojima flavor, I will consume it. Make some cheeky MGS references, throw in some Duran Duran on top, and add in some over-the-top dramatic flair, and there you go, you have a perfectly fun anime. Either way, I just hope that Kojima is actually involved in some of the production for this show because it is just now easy to emulate his style of work. And as I said, I like the art style they are going for, and I really wish for this anime to be GOOD.
That is all for now
But yeah, those were my thoughts on the Death Stranding anime. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I really WANT this anime to be good because, well, Kojima. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
