Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest is Releasing Sooner Than I Expected!

Key points for Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest news:

  • The anime adaptation of Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest will feature the return of many original staff and cast members, promising continuity in voice acting and direction.
  • Unlike its predecessor, 100 Years Quest reportedly adopts a less serious tone and focuses on fun, offering a departure from the disappointment some fans experienced with the original series’ final arc.
  • Scheduled for June 2024, the anime’s release timing prompts speculation about its potential length. With mixed reception to the manga, the adaptation’s reception and ensuing discussions will be intriguing to observe.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest is in an interesting predicament. A lot of people, including me were extremely disappointed by the ending of the original run of the series. The last arc was a mess and all that buildup only led to disappointment. So it is understandable that a lot of people who read the original are not reading this sequel series. But even the people who are can’t seem to agree on whether this is better or worse than the original series as a whole. You have to remember, there was a time when Fairy Tail was actually good.

I have not read the Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest manga at all, so I have no opinions on this matter. Thankfully though, the anime adaptation for it is coming out much sooner than I anticipated. So welcome back to another news article and let’s talk about the 100 Years Quest anime today.

What do we know about Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest anime?

A lot of the original staff and a cast are returning for this anime. So that means we will still have the iconic voice work of Kakihara Tetsuya, Ohara Sayaka, Hirano Aya, Nakamura Yuichi, etc. in this sequel series as well. The anime will be directed by Ishihira Shinji and Watanabe Toshiori at JC Staff, just like the original.

As the title suggests, this sequel series involves Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Erza, and Wendy taking on a 100 Years Quest, the most difficult type of guild quest available. As I understand, the tone of this sequel is a lot less serious than the original which is interesting.

You can check out the PV for the anime here. 100 Years Quest is scheduled to come out in June 2024. It still falls within the Summer 2024 season even though it is coming out in the last month of it. I hope that this unorthodox release time means that it will run for a long time and not just 24 episodes.

What do I think?

As I mentioned, 100 Years Quest is trapped in a weird predicament. So I am interested in seeing how the anime is received. From what I have heard, the manga is not “bad”, its tone is a lot more toned down than the last arc of the original and it’s just having fun with its story. A lot of people like that and a lot of people don’t. That is why this manga has such a mixed reception even though it is nowhere as egregious as the last arc of the original. I am very interested in seeing where my opinion on it falls.

That is all for now!

Let me know what you guys think in the comments. It will certainly be interesting to see the discussions around this Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
