Man, the TBATE Anime Adaptation is Tragic…

Seeing a terrible anime adaptation always makes me sad but I swear to god, this anime is so bad that if it wasn’t adapting a Manhwa as iconic as TBATE, I’d find it incredibly funny too. If you thought Frame Lock and 7 Deadly Frames were bad, let me tell you, TBATE is better worse than both combined. I am sad that this happened to TBATE but I still can’t help but laugh whenever I see a clip from the anime lmao. It is so incredibly bad that it was hard to sit through the episodes with a straight face. What the hell happened here? Did someone steal the budget money from the studio???

So yeah, welcome back to another article. Today we are talking about just how bad the anime adaptation of TBATE is lol. I imagine I am going to have quite a lot of fun writing this article lol. Either way, there will be no spoilers ahead for the anime or the Manhwa. I am not that deep into the Manhwa anyway. So let’s get started.

About the TBATE Anime…

First, let me tell you a little about the TBATE Manhwa. So TBATE is a high fantasy Manhwa that on the surface feels like just another reincarnation story. King Grey mysteriously dies and is reincarnated into a world of magic as the son of two retired adventurers. He goes by the name Arthur now and after a dragon saves his life, Arthur decides to live a kind and honest life. So far, pretty normal right? But what sets TBATE apart is how well Arthur’s character is portrayed and the action is awesome.

But that’s all I’ll say because I don’t want to spoil that Manhwa. Now… onto the anime.

I- I have trouble calling this anime an “anime” because that would imply that at least some sort of animation work went into this show. Dude, I have seen PowerPoint presentations more animated than this anime. No matter how bad PNG Lock and 7 Deadly Frames were, at least they had a double-digit frame rate. With TBATE, it feels like you can count the number of frames used in an episode on ONE HAND. The animations are so bad that they circle around to being funny.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the anime also has very rapid camera cuts. No wider establishing shots or something, just badly animated action featuring terrible camera cuts. With Blue Lock, at least the art was still good, this anime didn’t even leave that intact. All the charm of the Manhwa’s art style is gone and it looks more like a random, generic fantasy anime. I am honestly baffled by how bad this adaptation is. Definitely in contention for one of the worst anime adaptations of all time.

It is a shame that people will always associate TBATE with this terrible anime adaptation now but I still do encourage you to look up some scenes from this anime.
