Voice Actor Radio is Flawed but Good

Happy Elden Ring DLC day everyone! I have played about 5 hours of it so far and trust me, I feel like I haven’t even scratched the surface yet lol. But I digress, I still have to do my job, can’t leave y’all hanging. So here we are today talking about Voice Actor Radio. Now I had fun watching this anime. I think the main characters are well done and relatable. At the same time though, the plot can feel a little contrived and directionless at times.
So welcome back to another one of my reviews. Today we will be talking about Voice Actor Radio. Again, I want to clarify, that no matter what I say after this as a critic, as a watcher, I had fun with this show. So let’s get into the review.
Plot
The plot has multiple good beats to offer, like how quickly rumors can destroy someone’s reputation in showbiz, the issue of stalkers or “stans”, a parent not wanting their child to be involved in showbiz, or just the same old rivalry between different characters and wanting to get better. These are just some examples. My issue with the plot is that never explores these things beyond a surface level. And the resolution to all these complex issues is not exactly satisfying at times. Like the resolution of the whole stalker/toxic fans and parental issues felt a little contrived.
So what makes something like Oshi no Ko good is how well it portrays these darker sides of showbiz. I don’t expect every anime to get that dark but Voice Actor Radio could’ve tried a little more here. It has all these great ideas and yet it never explores them further and that’s a little disappointing. Even the central theme of rivalry between Yasumi and Yuhi isn’t explored enough. They could’ve done a lot more with it too.
Characters
I like the main cast of Yuhi, Yasumi, Otome, and Mekuru. Their interactions and relationships are well-done. But again, have the issue that the anime doesn’t go far enough. Yuhi and Yasumi’s rival dynamic is cool but it doesn’t result in any of them getting better till the very last episode. They shift between rivals who hate each other and close friends at the convenience of the plot. And lastly, I wish, they did a little more with the side characters like the managers of Yuhi and Ysaumi as well as their moms.
The character-related issues aren’t that noticeable because the character interactions and relationships are pretty well done. The dynamics between all four of our main characters are great and they have distinct personalities so the conversations are pretty good too.
Animations and Soundtracks
Nothing much to say here. The animations are decent and the art is pretty. Nothing extraordinary but good enough. The same goes for the soundtracks. The opening theme is good. Again, nothing extraordinary but more than good enough.

The anime has a lot of good and relatable themes but it never goes far enough with them as a result, conclusions to certain arcs feel underwhelming. The same thing extends to the characters but since the character interactions are good, it’s hard to notice. But yeah, that concludes the review, let me know what you guys think in the comments.
