World Trigger is Getting a Reboot??

Article at a glance:

  • Season 1 desperately needed a reboot, the OG adaptation had that dreaded early-2000s Toei pacing, awkward pauses, and way too much padding, so a fresh take is honestly a blessing.
  • Seasons 2 and 3 proved World Trigger can peak, the improved pacing, cleaner direction, and tighter storytelling showed how good the anime can be when handled properly.
  • Season 4 would’ve gone crazy, but the reboot is still a win, we were so close to the hype arcs, but a stronger foundation might pay off in the long run.

Well, this certainly wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card. Just when World Trigger had a good stride going with Seasons 2 and 3, we suddenly get news about a potential reboot? Now, I won’t lie, this just might be a good thing since Season 1 of World Trigger SUCKS compared to Seasons 2 and 3. Like the pacing just feels off. Still, I would’ve preferred a Season 4 over a reboot because we were FINALLY getting to the more interesting parts of the manga. But I will still take this.

So, yeah, welcome back to another news article, and today we are talking about the World Trigger Reboot. I don’t know why or how this happened, but here we are. So let’s get started.

What do we know about the World Trigger Reboot?

Toei Animation announced the Reboot about two days ago on Thursday (4th December). They revealed a teaser visual and an announcement promo, but that’s it. They also said that more details will be revealed at the Jump Festa 2026 event, which is 2 weeks away at the time of writing. So we will see what these new details end up being. But yeah, that’s all we got for now. Suffice to say, I will make an update article once the Jump Festa news drops.

For now, you can watch the announcement trailer here. Not much, but at least its something.

But yeah, that covers all the news for now. So let’s move on to

My Thoughts

Honestly, as much as I wanted a straight-up Season 4, I can’t pretend a reboot of Season 1 isn’t a massive W in its own right. The original World Trigger Season 1 had that classic early-2000s Toei curse: the awkward still frames, characters standing around for weirdly long pauses, and enough padding to qualify as insulation material. It wasn’t unwatchable, but compared to how tight and dynamic Seasons 2 and 3 were, it’s night and day. A proper reboot gives the series a chance to reintroduce the early arcs with better pacing and cleaner direction.

That said… man, we were SO close to the really juicy stuff in the manga. Season 4 onwards covers some of World Trigger’s most complex, hype-building arcs, and Toei had finally proven they could deliver that modern, crisp adaptation style. So yeah, part of me is a little salty we won’t be jumping straight into that. But at the same time, if rebooting Season 1 means more people actually stick with the anime long enough to reach those arcs? That’s a net positive.

That is all for now

So yeah, that’s all we got about the World Trigger Reboot so far. Please let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here. See ya!
