Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 1 Was Beautiful

Article at a glance:
- The new opening is likable, but the ending theme may take time to grow on fans compared to Season 1’s iconic tracks.
- Kana and Taiki’s scene is breathtaking, showcasing Doga Kobo’s brilliant animation and storytelling, making it the highlight of the episode.
- The episode sets up the upcoming arc perfectly, ending on a cliffhanger despite its seemingly straightforward plot.

Let me begin this by saying I didn’t originally have a “favorite girl” in Oshi no Ko. I liked Kana, Akane, and Ruby equally. After this episode though, that feeling is shifting because holy hell, long-hair Akane looks gorgeous. If you read my articles, you know that I don’t usually swoon over girls like this but in this case, I can’t help it. So while Kana had the best moment in Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 1, I could not take my eyes off of Akane because of how good she looked hahaha. Take that as you will.
Moving on though, this episode was a great start to Season 2. Of course, it is not as powerful as the Season 1 episode 1. But that episode is lightning in a bottle. Only a few other anime episodes can rival ONK Season 1 Episode 1. So welcome back to another first impressions article and today we are talking about Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 1! Let’s get started.

What do I think of Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 1?
Let’s start by talking about the opening and ending themes. I liked the new opening theme but again, Idol from season 1 was just something else. The new ending theme though… Eh, maybe it will grow on me but Mephisto from Season 1 was as much of a masterpiece as Idol. I do like the fact that we’re keeping the pattern of starting the ending theme’s music as the last few seconds of the episode play out. It adds so much drama to the cliffhangers the anime usually leaves us on.
Now for the episode itself, it was an amazing episode. It sets up the upcoming arc perfectly we can even see how the character trajectory for certain characters will progress for the foreseeable future. But it is Oshi no Ko and it doesn’t like being predictable so the episode still manages to end on a cliffhanger despite seeming like a pretty straightforward arc.

Now, let’s talk about the scene with Kana and Taiki. The character reactions for that scene aren’t just for show. That scene was truly breathtaking. And the way Doga Kobo chose to portray it was quite genius too. Their way of presenting the scene also highlighted what kind of effect it was having on the other characters who were watching it play out. By far, the best scene of the episode, job well done, Doga Kobo. And while we are on the topic, the animations are still incredible.
That is all for now
I give Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 1 and solid 9/10. It was an amazing episode and that one scene was truly amazing. Let me know what you guys think in the comments and I will take my leave here. See ya!
