Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings Episode 1 was Wild!

Article at a glance:
- Kuze and Alya’s engaging banter and chemistry drive the episode’s appeal.
- The show puts effort into developing Kuze’s character, a rarity for male leads in romance/slice-of-life anime.
- Uesaka Sumire’s performance as Alya and the surprisingly good animation from Doga Kobo enhance the viewing experience.

So, I was looking forward to this anime. It just appealed to my taste the moment I saw the teaser visual for it. And now that episode 1 of Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian is out, I can say that my feelings were spot-on. Look, I don’t expect much from this anime. If it can deliver this chaotic fun with touches of romance here and there like episode 1 had, I would be more than satisfied with it. So yeah, episode 1 was pretty much what I expected, and then some.
So welcome back to another first impressions article. This is the second first impressions article for the Summer 2024 season, Between all the first impressions articles and Anime Expo 2024, these next few days are going to be quite busy for me. But hey, I am here for it. Today we are taking a look at Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Episode 1. Let’s get started.

What do I think of Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Episode 1?
Episode 1 sets up kind of an obvious plot point through the MC, Kuze’s flashbacks. There are two ways they could use those flashbacks and I am here for whatever option the story goes with. If the girl from Kuze’s flashbacks is indeed Alya, then we would have some very interesting character moments to look forward to. And if the girl isn’t Alya, we could have a whole bunch of plot implications we could derive from it.
Other than the flashbacks though, the plot isn’t much to talk about. Again, it is a romance/slice-of-life anime. What do you expect? The main draw of animes like these are the characters and oh boy, Kuze and Alya are amazing. Their dynamic and chemistry is amazing. It is entertaining to see them together on the screen. I also like that the episode put some effort into Kuze’s character as well. Otherwise, most animes like these don’t bother giving a proper character to the male MC.

Also, a shoutout to Alya or Alisa’s voice actor, Uesaka Sumire. Her performance is amazing. I know that the Russian she speaks is heavily accented but it is clear that she is trying her best and it sounds all the better because of it. The animations are surprisingly good. I didn’t expect them to be this good, to be honest. It is wild that Doga Kobo is making both this and Oshi no Ko Season 2 this season.
And no, I refuse to talk about that scene. Frieren started the trend, Blue Archive ran with it and now this anime is carrying the torch. If you know, you know. I refuse to speak on it lol.
That is all for now!
But yeah, this was a fun episode. Kuze and Alya’s banter is going to be the lifeblood of this anime and I am here for it. Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Episode 1 gets an easy 8/10 from me, it was a fun episode. With that said, I will take my leave here. I have a meeting with the Promised Consort. See ya!
