Reiji Miyajima Scores Another Anime Adaptation…

Yes! You heard that right! Our lord and savior, the author of our divine gospel, Rent-A-Girlfriend, Reiji Miyajima is getting another one of his works adapted into an anime! This evening, we rejoice, we celebrate, we drink and we cry in a public swimming pool! And let us bask in our lord’s divine glory! For what could be better than having more of his works to feast our eyes upon?!
God… end me now. Just do it. Does this guy have dirt on someone important in the industry or something? How could he get another anime project despite consistently putting out garbage? What hurts me even more this time is that this anime, yes, this piece of trash will be made by Doga Kobo. Kadokawa, have you lost your mind? Doga Kobo is currently making two of the best animes this season, Oshi no Ko and Alya. And you want a studio of that caliber working on this? Are you kidding me?
If you haven’t realized it already, no, this isn’t a news article. Have you seen the Madness animation from Elden RIng? The one with the burning eyes? Like literal yellow flame bursting out of your eyes? Yeah, that’s me right now. I could end this article just by saying that this series is written by Reiji Miyajima but no. I want you all to suffer with me.
The Shiunji Family Children
So I stoned my resolve and checked out the manga this upcoming anime is for. And I was disappointed. I walked in expecting a RAG-level car crash, but I got nothing. The characters are surprisingly decent and the MC is a million times better than Kazuya, although, that’s a very low bar to clear. We went from an utter burning pile of trash, leaking and spraying trash water all over the place in RAG to a very generic and boring harem in Shiunji Family Children.
There isn’t even any incest since the children aren’t blood-related. You’d think that someone as profound as Reiji Miyajima would go ahead and just include actual incest in the story but no, he played it safe. WHY PLAY IT SAFE NOW??? WE HAVE SEEN THE STUFF YOU ARE CAPABLE OF. Does this mean it is any good? Nope. As I said, Shiunji Family is just boring. There is nothing to latch on to here. You can at times taste the trash water that courses through the veins of its sibling, RAG but that’s about it.
Shiunji Family doesn’t force you to drink that trash water like RAG usually does. So while we have been “elevated” from a garbage, cuckoldry harem to a “proper” harem, it is still just bad. This is a damn shame too because we have a studio as talented as Doga Kobo working on this and the cast listing for this show has names like Takahashi Rie, Chika Anzai, and Kana Ichinose. Which boggles my mind. None of those people should waste their time on this.

DO NOT WATCH THIS GARBAGE. It is not worth your time and let Kadokawa realize their mistake by putting a studio as good as Doga Kobo on nothing burgers like this. Also this a humble request, Reiji Miyajima, please stop making manga. I know you realize that you’ll never make anything remotely as “popular” as RAG again. But just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should. Learn from Isayama, there are other ways of making money. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya.
