Slime Season 3: In Defense of the Founder’s Festival Arc

Article at a glance:

  • The Founder’s Festival arc introduces key characters like Masayuki and Elmesia, who will play significant roles in future arcs.
  • This arc establishes critical elements like the Colosseum, the underground Labyrinth, and the political landscape, all of which will be foundational for future plot developments.
  • The extensive world-building and political shifts in this arc, though seemingly slow, are essential for understanding the upcoming seasons of the series.

There is a lot of hate for Slime Season 3 and the Founder’s Festival Arc in general online. And while I get why some people may not like it, there’s stuff about this arc that is very important. There is also the fact that most people who don’t like this arc are anime-only audiences and you know, that is fair. You won’t understand the importance of this arc if you haven’t read the LN. Because the amount of plot threads this arc serves as a basis for is kind of insane.

My full review for Slime Season 3 will be out in a couple of weeks but before that, I kind of wanted to talk about my feelings on the Founder’s Festival arc. Because trust me, this arc will be very important in the future. So I just wanted to go over why this arc is important without spoiling any of the upcoming future content and why you should keep the events of this arc in mind before we eventually go into Season 4.

About Slime Season 3: Founder’s Festival arc

One of the most important parts of the Founder’s Festival arc is the introduction of certain new characters. While characters like Momiji are a nice addition, the ones you should watch out for and will be important in the future are the Hero Masayuki and Elmesia, the ruler of Sarion. Elmesia will be important right in the next couple of episodes but Masayuki is going to be very important in the future. Without going into too much detail to avoid spoilers, all I’ll say is that he is going to be the focal point of certain arcs in the future.

The other important thing to come from this arc is the construction of the Colosseum and the underground Labyrinth. Those two things will be important in the future. But I think this one was pretty obvious given how much importance this season placed on the construction of those. And I also urge people to try and keep track of what “races” are moving into the city and who is living where.

Aside from all that, one of the most important things that this arc does is establish the political landscape of all territories around Tempest and how Tempest is affecting things like trade and travel in those territories. I cannot stress how important this is going to be in the future. I know things may be a little hard to follow at times, but don’t worry, I think the series does a good job of recapping some old stuff when it is relevant.

That is all for now

So yeah, while Slime Season 3 and Founder’s Festival arc may seem boring for now, and I understand why people feel that way. But I just want people to understand that the stupid amounts of world-building we are getting in this arc will act as the basis for almost everything that is to come. Of course, I won’t be this kind to it in my final review but still. But yeah, I will take my leave here. See ya!
