MF Ghost Manga Concludes in 6 Chapters

Article at a glance:

  • The manga concludes on February 17, 2025, with Chapter 276, ending its 7.5-year serialization. Volume 23 is expected to be the final release.
  • Season 2 covered up to Chapter 117; with Season 3 in production, the anime might need five seasons to adapt the entire story.
  • Known for exceptional car and race art, Shigeno plans to explore new genres, possibly a farming manga, post-MFG.

I actually didn’t realize how long this manga had been going on. The MF Ghost manga had been under serialization for 7 and a half years, which is pretty crazy. This also puts into context just how old Initial D is too since Shuuichi Shigeno started penning MFG about 4 years after Initial D concluded. While I do have my issues with MF, I have to say Shuuichi Shigno is amazing at drawing cars and races. I know that he has said that he wants to explore different genres and maybe do a farming manga but man, I’ll always remember how well he draws cars.

So well, here we are at the conclusion of another manga, this time it is MF Ghost. I think we all have a general idea of how the ending will be. MFG isn’t exactly deep so the conclusion of the story will be pretty natural like how Initial D was. But yeah, let’s talk about it.

About MF Ghost Manga Ending

As I mentioned, the manga will be coming to an end soon. We have 6 chapters to go so Chapter 276 will be the final chapter of MFG. The 12th issue of the Weekly Young Magazine will publish the final chapter on February 17th. The 21st volume of the manga was released in October 2024 and the 22nd volume will be shipped right before the ending on February 6th. I think that Volume 23rd will be the final volume. I don’t know what chapter volume 21st covers. But yeah, the 7 and a half year serialization comes to an end soon.

Season 2 of the anime covered up to volume 10, chapter 117. As we all know, Season 3 is already under production. If we keep going at this pace, we will need about 5 seasons (total) to cover the whole manga. Also, the 30th anniversary of Initial D is close so we can expect something exciting to come out of that as well. As I said earlier, Shuuihchi Shigeno has said that he wants to explore different genres after finishing MFG so I doubt we will see a follow-up to MFG. Either way, I wish the best to him.

My Thoughts

I have not read the MFG manga but I have a general idea of how things are going right now. I wonder if the anime will commit to adapting the whole manga now that it is close to the conclusion. They should, right? Cause with Season 3, they will be well past the halfway point of the MFG manga. It may just be nostalgia but the MFG characters are nowhere as memorable as the Initial D characters. But you know, the racing action hasn’t fallen off at all. I’d say MFG races are sometimes better than Initial D races.

So I think it is fair to say that my feelings on MFG are kind of mixed. I wish the anime does it justice though because the recently aired Season 2 was really good. I look forward to seeing what they cook up in Season 3 now. I just wish that we could have the high-octane, Eurobeat soundtrack from Initial D back. I’ll ignore all flaws of MFG if they bring back the Eurobeat lol.

Also, looking forward to seeing what they announce for the upcoming Initial D 30th anniversary.

That is all for now

So yeah, let me know in the comments what you guys think of the MF Ghost manga in the comments. It is a real mixed bag in my opinion but man the art and the races just do not miss. I really wish we get more racing mangas like this in the future. With that said though, I will take my leave here. See ya!
