Frieren Season 2 Confirmed for Next January!
Article at a glance:
- Season 2 was confirmed in September 2024, with a teaser visual revealed during a livestream on March 5, 2025, and a planned release in January 2026.
- While the manga is currently on hiatus, there are over 12 volumes published, providing sufficient material for Season 2, even if it mirrors the 28-episode format of Season 1.
- The production team is likely taking their time to ensure a high-quality adaptation, maintaining the standards set by Season 1 and avoiding a rushed second season.
It looks like the wait for Frieren Season 2 will continue for a while. Kind of unfortunate but I get why they want to take their time with the anime. You see, the Frieren manga is currently on a hiatus. While I am sure there is enough content for Season 2, there won’t be enough content for anything further than that. So we would have to wait anyway. So I am okay with them taking as long as they like for a Season 2 especially if they are planning on making it quite long like Season 1.
Regardless, we finally got some updates on Frieren and I just wanted to talk about them. So welcome back to another news article. Today we are talking about Frieren Season 2. Even though we have to wait quite long for it, I am sure it will be worth the wait. So let’s talk about it.
What do we know about Frieren Season 2?
If you recall, Season 2 was confirmed in September of 2024. Even then it was surprising that they took so long to confirm Season 2 given the massive success of the anime. Recently though, on Wednesday (5th March) there was a Frieren-related livestream. The livestream gave us updates about Season 2 and went on to reveal a teaser visual for Season 2 as well as confirmed a January 2026 release window for Season 2. Just as a reminder, the anime originally debuted in September 2023 lol. It has been a year and a half since then, yeah, time flies.
But that covers all the news and updates for now. So let’s move on to
My Thoughts
The manga has been on hiatus for about two months now. The latest chapter came out in December 2024. This is the 2nd break the manga has taken recently, the previous break was just 6 months ago in May 2024. There is no official date announced for the resumption. But I think that the manga will come back soon enough. Clarifying what I said earlier, there is more than enough content for Season 2.
Even if they make Season 2 28 episodes long like Season 1. Season 1 covered the first 6 volumes of the manga and currently, there are over 12 volumes of the manga available. So definitely enough content.
But I presume the anime is taking its time because if it doesn’t, there will be nothing left for Season 3, And given the high standards Season 1 has set, it is best to take time as much time as needed with an anime adaptation like this. People love Frieren and for a good reason. No other show even comes close to the unique feeling of this anime. It is quite honestly, one of the greatest animes of all time and as such, the anime adaptation needs to be good.
That is all for now
But yeah, that covers all the Frieren Season 2 updates. Shame that it has to take this long but again, I’d rather wait longer than have a rushed adaptation. Just that I can’t wait to lose myself again in the world of Frieren. As I said, there is nothing else like it and I miss the show very dearly. With that said though, I will take my leave here. I am off to give myself more emotional damage by playing NieR: Automata. See ya!
