Akatsuki no Yona Manga is Ending Soon!

Article at a glance:

  • Akatsuki no Yona is finally ending after a 16-year run, with the final chapter (276) dropping on December 19th, 2025, in Hana to Yume magazine.
  • The community’s reaction has been surprisingly positive, even with worries about the short three-chapter wrap-up.
  • Still no Season 2 in sight, ten years later! I remain salty but hopeful the manga gets the send-off it deserves.

Crazy that the manga is ending after a 16-year run, and we still haven’t heard a peep about a 2nd season in 10 years. Yes, I am STILL mad from the last article. I should’ve used Akatsuki no Yona as an example in that article, too. Because people LOVE this manga and for a good reason. But did we ever get a Season 2? NOPE. But yeah, Akatsuki no Yona manga is finally ending after a 16-year run, and while I haven’t kept up with the manga myself, the community sentiment regarding the ending seems pretty positive, which is reassuring.

Because trust me, I was there for JJK, Oshi no Ko, and AoT endings, and those endings kind of knocked the wind out of those communities for a while. Yes, there is still some concern, of course. But we’ll talk about that more later. Let’s first cover the news.

Everything You Need To Know

So the manga will be concluding in 3 chapters. Which means chapter 276 will be the final chapter of Akatsuki no Yona. This chapter is scheduled to be released in the December 19th edition of the Hana to Yume magazine. The manga started back in August 2009, so yeah, it has been over 16 years since the publication started. The 46th Volume of the manga was released in June, earlier this year. The 47th volume is scheduled for a February 2026 release, and if I am not miscounting, we should have 1 more volume after that.

Also, yes, it has been 10 years since the anime adaptation dropped lol. The anime started in the Fall 2014 season. YEAH, it really has been THAT long. But let’s move on to

My Thoughts

Again, fair disclaimer, I have NOT kept up with the manga for a while now, so whatever I am about to say might not be entirely accurate. My thoughts are purely based on the community sentiment I’ve observed so far.

But it is nice seeing an overall positive sentiment going into the ending of a major manga. Trust me, we have been burned too many times at this point. Seems like the recent chapters have been really heavy on the emotional front, which checks out. Don’t worry, I am NOT going to spoil anything here, but people have been really happy with the recent chapters, which is always good to see once again.

The common concern about the ending seems to be that 3 chapters are way too short to wrap up everything. I am sorry to repeat myself,f but we have been here before lol. I’ve heard that exact same sentence so many times. But hopefully the manga delivers an emotionally satisfying conclusion, even if some of the plot threads go nowhere. As long as the ending makes narrative sense and involves a worthwhile payoff, I’ll be happy with it. That’s all I ask for.

That is all for now

So yeah, I’ll be going off and catching up with the manga. Need to make time to review the Akatsuki no Yona manga ending when it drops next month lol. But yeah, let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here. I am off to play Witcher 3 again. See ya!

Also, check out my rant on sequels here lol!
