Steel Ball Run Episode 2 Has NO Confirmed Release Date…

Article at a glance:

  • Netflix still hasn’t learned from Stone Ocean: The same chaotic, batch-drop release model is back, and this time it might be even worse since we don’t even have a confirmed date for Steel Ball Run Episode 2.
  • SBR Episode 1 had insane momentum: The premiere was so good it briefly topped both Frieren and FMAB on MAL, and Netflix is throwing all of that hype in the trash with their awful release strategy.
  • A weekly schedule isn’t rocket science: Nobody’s asking for miracles here. Just drop the episodes weekly like a normal show. Even waiting an extra year for Episode 1 would’ve been worth it for a proper weekly run.

I hate Netflix. Sure, Netflix has given us a bunch of good shows over the years. But in my opinion, they’ve done irreversible damage to streaming. It is insane to think that you still have to pay a subscription fee to watch shows WITH ads. Remember how chaotic the release schedule for Stone Ocean was? Yeah, well, Netflix is doing the same with Steel Ball Run, as we have no confirmed release date for Episode 2.

I probably don’t even need to tell why this is idiotic, but I am going to do it anyway. So welcome back to another episode of “I hate Netflix,” and today, we are talking about the whole Steel Bal Run Episode 2 fiasco. So let’s get started.

So what happened?

Well, typical Netflix is what happened. They learned nothing from the release of Stone Ocean. We would get 13 episodes, and then the show would just disappear for god knows how long without any updates before suddenly popping back up with another batch of 13 episodes. Something similar is happening with SBR, but it’s kind of worse. With Stone Ocean, at least we go in batches of episodes. With SBR, we don’t even know when Episode 2 will drop, like it may not even be this year.

We just went through this whole jazz with Fate/Strange Fake, too. I don’t need another dose of it, man, for real.

So let’s move on to

Why is this so bad?

SBR Episode 1 was so damn good, it momentarily beat Frieren AND FMAB on MAL. Now, that doesn’t mean much in the long run, but that just goes to show you how much momentum the release of Episode 1 had. And yeah, it was a damn good episode, you probably couldn’t ask for a better introduction to a JoJo part. But a release order like where you have no idea of when to even expect the new episode kills off all the hype and momentum a good premiere can build.

Why would you do that? You’re killing off interest in your own series! Again, did the backlash for the Stone Ocean release teach you NOTHING, Netflix? Release episode 1 when you’re ready to drop the rest of the episodes every week after it. Why can’t you just do a normal weekly run for once, Netflix?? I wouldn’t mind waiting even a whole year longer for Episode 1 if that means I can enjoy the rest of the show weekly after it.

Yes, SBR will STILL be a massive success; it is one of the best JoJo parts, no doubt. But Netflix’s ways of working just confuse and frustrate me in equal measure.

That is all for now

Yeah, I am not about to blow a gasket over something I should’ve just expected out of Netflix at this point. I myself will still be here whenever Steel Ball Run Episode 2 drops, who am I kidding? But still just grinds my gears thinking about all the weird things Netflix does that kill off interest in their own projects. But let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here. See ya.

Check out how excited I was about SBR Episode 1 here, if you want to see something positive after this.

Edit: I just learned about the Netflix and Xbox partnership thing… I hate Netflix, man. And I hate what Microslop has done to Xbox.
