We manga fans have waited for years to see this scene finally animated. And it did not disappoint. Rukia’s Bankai looked every bit as beautiful as it should. Bleach TYBW Part 2 episode 6 was just freaking amazing.
As a content creator, I don’t usually write episode reviews. However, this week’s episode of Bleach was significant, featuring Rukia’s bankai in the 6th episode of the season. It was a fitting follow-up to the previous season’s 6th episode where Yamamoto went berserk with his flames.
So welcome back to another episode review. Today we are talking about Bleach TYBW Part 2, Episode 6. It is the 19th episode overall in the TYBW arc. So let’s get started.
What do I think of Bleach TYBW Part 2 Episode 6?
Spoilers for episode 6 ahead. Only continue if you’ve watched the episode
Before we get into the meat and bones of the episode, Rukia & Byakuya vs. As Nodt, we open on a really cool scene. We open with Ichigo jumping down from the Royal Palace after completing his training. The stairs from the Royal Palace look awesome, and we get an explanation of why Ichigo was wearing the Royal Palace attire. Then we cut to parts of “God Like You”. We get to see the execution of the failed Sternritters and a teaser for Haslwach’s ability, The Balance. Uryu was shocked by what he saw. The scene was both cool and creepy.
And the episode only goes creepier as Rukia starts her fight the Sternritter F, The Fear As Nodt. As Nodt’s voice actor sounded amazing in this episode. He sounded just as unhinged as the animations made As look. We get to see the true nature of Rukia’s Shikai and the ice effects on her skin and clothing look phenomenal. As for As Nodt, he looks creepy as hell. He’s his got eye rolling around in really weird ways, it makes you uncomfortable just looking at it.
And in the 2nd half of the fight, the animation team just go crazy. They pull no punches in making As Nodt look as creepy and terrifying as they can. The voice actor is going crazy with it and all this is accompanied by a really spooky BGM too. Byakuya makes the save for Rukia, acknowledges how strong she has grown, and brings her morale back up. Then we get to see what we had been waiting for. Rukia’s Bankai, Hakka no Togame.
One of the best-looking Banakai designs in the whole series and the anime did it justice. I love the whole glassy look it has. Even her body is slightly transparent like ice in the Bankai form. It was stunning.
Conclusion
So yeah, an amazing episode. By far the best episode of the season yet. Probably my favorite episode from the TYBW arc so far. Easy 10/10 for just how good the whole As Nodt fight was. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here. See ya!!
