Blue Orchestra Season 2 confirmed for Fall 2025!

Article at a glance:

  • The second season is set to air in Fall 2025 with 21 episodes.
  • The anime explores personal struggles through music, similar to Your Lie in April, but with its own heartfelt approach.
  • Strong character writing and engaging rivalries make the upcoming season highly anticipated.

I think I’ve mentioned that “band drama” is quickly becoming one of my favorite genres. I had noticed this phenomenon before, but it was Sound Euphonium that really opened my eyes to what this genre could be. After finishing Sound Euphonium, I went back to watch Blue Orchestra again. While I did like it the first time around, it was on the 2nd watch that this anime really clicked for me. Connecting music to personal issues really does amplify the stakes. I have high hopes for Blue Orchestra Season 2.

So welcome back to another news article, Today we are talking about Blue Orchestra Season 2. I really liked the first season and I can wholeheartedly recommend it. And as always, the news comes first, my thoughts will be after that. So let’s get started.

What do we know about Blue Orchestra Season 2?

As the title says, Season 2 has been confirmed for this year’s fall season. I don’t remember when the 2nd season was initially announced but this Wednesday (12th Feb) the official website for the Blue Orchestra anime announced that the 2nd season is in production and will come out in the fall 2025 season. They also confirmed that Season 2 will run for 21 episodes. Season 1 had 24.

No info on the cast and staff yet but I think it is a fair assumption that most, if not all the major members will reprise their roles. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Seiji Kishi returns to direct Season 2 at Nippon Animation.

But that covers all the news for now. So let’s move on to

My Thoughts

Blue Orchestra is a really heartfelt story. The story of a musician struggling with his past and how that affects his music will always be a hard-hitting story if executed well. One of the best romance animes ever made, Your Lie in April uses this trope to its full potential. Sure, Blue Orchestra may not be as depressing as Your Lie in April but it still does have massive emotional weight and it handles it very well. Aono slowly coming to terms with his past and picking up playing violin again is done really well.

Combine that with his rivalry with Saeki and his relationship with Ritsuko and man, this anime just hits home. This is why I said earlier that I have high expectations from Season 2. All the band drama shows I have seen excel at character writing and Blue Orchestra is no different.

That is all for now

Really looking forward to Blue Orchestre Season 2. I think that it will be a treat. Hoping to see more “surprise” announcements like these because this year is kinda quiet compared to 2024 in terms of anime. But yeah, with that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
