Mahoutsukai no Yome Season 2 – More Details Out!

We knew this 2nd season was coming for a while. I actually didn’t think this series will get a continuation after Season 1 but when I saw that OVA, I was confident that a 2nd season was coming soon. WIT made a secondary studio that opened Mahoutsukai no Yome OVA, Studio Kafka. But, we finally have more info on season 2, and that makes me really happy. Season 2 is coming soon, I can put down the cope now.

Welcome back to another one of my articles, today we are talking about Mahoutsukai no Yome or Ancient Magus’s Bride, whichever title you prefer. This anime made quite an impression on me when I watched it and still continues to do so. As always, I will cover up the news side first then follow it up with my thoughts on the news. We got quite a bit of news too including broadcast info so let’s get right into it.

What do we know about Mahoutsukai no Yome Season 2?

The official website of Mahoutsukai no Yome anime revealed the additional cast, release date, teaser, a key visual, and all sorts of things about the anime on Thursday (12th January). First and foremost, the anime will premiere on April 6th, which is the spring season of 2023. We who don’t live in Japan can watch it through Amazon Prime. Kazuaki Terasawa is leading the project at Studio Kafka, just like the OVA from a few months ago.

My Thoughts

What do I think? Well, I am excited. This anime, may not be for everyone but, it is a very unique type of shoujo anime. I don’t even know if I should even consider it a shoujo anime given how dark it is. There isn’t really anything like Mahoutsukai no Yome in the market so it makes me happy when unique animes like this are continued.

As for what is about to come, I have no idea. I have heard a lot of good things about that academy arc and judging from the key visual, looks like we are about to get that arc in the anime. I really do hope that the arc is released in one go and not broken up into seasons. But hey, if they have to break it into cours, that is totally understandable as well. Studio Kafka is basically a budget WIT Studio so of course, they know what they are doing and they are pretty good at it. I look forward to seeing more of their work, this is their first “proper” anime after all.

I don’t want to admit how many times I misspelled “Mahoutsukai” during this article but, oh well. Should be a fun anime though, there is just something about this anime that keeps you coming back.
