No Longer Allowed in Another World is Goofy

Article at a glance:
- The anime satirizes dark themes by humorously acknowledging isekai tropes and depicting Dazai Osamu’s morbid reactions to his new world.
- Dazai’s pill-popping and suicidal tendencies contrast with Annette’s irrational jealousy and over-the-top reactions, adding comedic elements.
- Atelier Pontdarc’s vibrant art style and effective humor conveyance make this third anime production visually appealing and engaging.

Ok, so I hope that everyone understands that this anime is clearly satire. No Longer Human is one of the darkest stories in existence and the fact that is loosely based on the author, Dazai Osamu’s life makes it even more haunting. No Longer Allowed in Another World presents a satirical take on that. “What if Dazai Osamu was transported to an isekai the moment he tried double-suicide?” is basically the premise of this anime.
And I think there are certain things they can do with that premise. If it continues the satirical tone it is going for, it is going to be a fun ride. So welcome back to another first impressions article. And today we are talking about No Longer Allowed in Another World. The title is also very clearly a play on “No Longer Human”. But, let’s get started.

What did I think of No Longer Allowed in Another World Episode 1?
Ok, right off the bat, the fact that they acknowledged the existence of the Truck is hilarious. The Truck had become a very common isekai troupe for a while. So it was really funny seeing it being acknowledged like this. That should tell you what kind of humor this anime is going for, and I like it. I also love how Dazai Osamu is constantly shown taking pills, The first thing he tried to do upon learning that he is in another world was take a bunch of pills and try to die. After that, he was shown taking pills constantly throughout the episode.
It’s messed up but it is kind of funny. Annette’s reaction to Dazai’s personality is also funny, she is so over-the-top. She was fuming the moment she saw the Catgirl with Dazai and she decided to join them simply because she didn’t want the Catgirl making any advances. I don’t think she would have but as you may have guessed, Annette isn’t a very rational person. Also, we don’t learn the Catgirl’s name, whenever she tries to say what her name is, she is interrupted.

Atelier Pontdarc is a relatively new studio, this is their 3rd anime ever. With that in mind, I think the production quality of this anime is quite good. They know exactly how to convey the humor of the series and the animations look pretty good too, the colors are vibrant and the art style is good. They showed off a bunch of different creatures at the beginning of this episode so I hope that we get to see more of them in the future.
That is all for now!
I do realize that for some people this anime won’t land right. I can take a good satire so I don’t mind it but if you don’t like it, that is fine too. With that said though, I will take my leave here. I will be off playing Borderlands 2. See ya!
