Before I get started on anything else, I want to inform you that this will be the last season of Shield Hero for a good while. The LN has been stuck on hiatus hell for a while now so there’s a good chance that there won’t be enough material for a Season 5 for quite some time unless the anime starts drawing from the Web Novel instead but that would present a whole other chunk of issues. But you know, even without a condition like that, Shield Hero Season 4 would’ve been an interesting ride.
The Shield Hero series is in such an odd position. I think most people can agree that Season 1 was amazing. But then the show turned into a generic isekai so fast. Seasons 2 and 3 were terrible. At this point, we’re all wondering if we will ever return to the glory days of Season 1 and I honestly don’t know the answer. But yeah, welcome back to another news article. Today we are talking about Shield Hero Season 4. Let’s get started.
What do we know about Shield Hero Season 4?
The official website of the Shield Hero anime revealed a new teaser visual for season 4, some additional cast, and a release window. Takeo Ootsuka and Jirou Saitou will be joining the cast as Werner and Jaralis respectively. And the release date is sooner than you might expect. Season 4 is scheduled for a July 2025 release. So the Summer 2025 season continues to grow stronger.
No further details were revealed but I think at this point, I’d be surprised if Season 4 wasn’t made by Kinema Citrus as well. And I bet that MADKID will be back with another banger opening theme. But yeah, let’s move on to
My Thoughts
I feel like Season 4 has so much riding on it. I personally have zero excitement for it. My goodwill towards this series died with Season 3. Season 3 was basically a rehash of Season 1 twice and done poorly. I don’t think Season 4 will be Season 2 levels of bad but the problem is, Season 4 will end up being very middle of the road. Middle of the road is forgettable. I have watched Season 1 three separate times and I still struggle to recall the last few episodes of it. Why? Because they are nowhere as compelling as Naofumi’s revenge arc!
I am getting sidetracked. The point is, if Season 4 is not good enough, the series will lose the little bit of remaining goodwill it has from the community. And I don’t exactly have high faith that Season 4 will be that good.
