About the Tokyo Ghoul Remake Rumors…

Article at a glance:
- Rumors of a remake sparked after Studio Pierrot teased a “special” Tokyo Ghoul announcement for Anime Japan, but nothing is confirmed.
- Unconfirmed claims suggest an episode titled Tokyo Ghoul 0 was completed in late 2023 but remains unreleased.
- Fans hope for a remake but maintain low expectations after the disappointing 10th-anniversary project.

Man, it seems like ever since the 10th-anniversary announcement, the rumors regarding a Tokyo Ghoul Remake have only grown stronger. I think this is the third time I have heard rumors about a potential remake after the 10th anniversary announcement. And it makes sense. The 10th-anniversary project was terrible. Making all 50 episodes of the anime available for free only made the desire for a remake stronger. I too adore the Tokyo Ghoul manga, just the other day I was appreciating how beautiful both of the Arima vs. Kaneki fights were in the manga.
As you can imagine, just the thought of having a proper anime adaptation for Tokyo Ghoul makes me happy. So let me get out my copium pot, I am huffing the strongest dose I have. And while I am high off of that strong copium, let’s address the Tokyo Ghoul remake rumors.
Is Tokyo Ghoul Really Getting a Remake?
Well, as the title says, these are just rumors. Maybe we are reading into things too much. But this all started because Studio Pierrot, the studio behind the original anime revealed that they’ll have a Tokyo Ghoul-related announcement at this year’s Anime Japan. They did say that these announcements were related to the anniversary and I feel like I recall seeing someone mention that it is a “special” announcement but that might not be true. There is no confirmation that this announcement will be that of a remake.
Some people on Twitter have also said that an episode called “Tokyo Ghoul 0” has been completed since November 2023 and Studio Pierrot hasn’t released it yet. Again, there is nothing official on Tokyo Ghoul 0 either so take this information as you will. So yeah, the remake rumors really are rumors, what a surprise! Who could’ve guessed that us Tokyo Ghouls fans were just getting excited over just trivial new info?! I.. My heart aches even writing all that.

My Thoughts
I don’t even know what to write here. I’ll say one thing though, I don’t have high expectations. Expectations lead to disappointment. I know a lot of people were really excited about the 10th anniversary event too but that turned out to be garbage. The Tokyo Ghoul 0 thing could be interesting but again, I doubt it’ll be even remotely enough to satisfy the fans. I don’t to have any expectations for the event, I wouldn’t even be surprised if just they announced new official merch or something at Anime Japan.
And no, that is not me wishing against a remake, that is just me keeping my expectations in check. Always expect the worst and you will never be let down. Do I think they’ll actually announce a remake? I doubt it. I will do a rune level 1 run of Elden Ring without a bleed build if they announce a remake for real.
That is all for now
So yeah, that addresses all the Tokyo Ghoul remake rumors and where they come from, I think. I really wish that we get the remake but I sincerely doubt it will happen. Regardless, hope for the best and always expect the worst, as contrary as that sounds, those are words to live by. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
