A Condition Called Love is Weird

Key points for A Condition Called Love First Impressions:

  • “A Condition Called Love” diverges from typical romance anime by exploring the theme of appropriate emotional distance in relationships, offering a fresh perspective.
  • Despite the potential for frustration, the series maintains a mellow atmosphere, providing a necessary balance to its intense relational drama.
  • The dynamic between Hananoi’s excessive dedication and Hinase’s unfamiliarity with romantic love sets up an intriguing narrative with promising potential, earning the series a hopeful 7/10 rating.

I had a general idea of what I could expect from A Condition Called Love. But it still caught me off-guard. And I kind of like what this anime is trying to do. Instead of telling a typical romance story, it is instead focusing on a guy trying to figure out what the appropriate “distance” is in a relationship. So far, I like it but I can already tell that this anime could be a little frustrating for some people.

I don’t mind animes dealing with different topics about relationships like this but they need something to balance out the intense drama. And so far, A Condition Called Love has been pretty mellow overall. And I hope it stays that way while still dealing with the issues it is addressing. So welcome back to another first impressions article and today, well you know what we are talking about so let’s get right into it

What do I think of A Condition called Love so far?

Two episodes in, so far I like this anime. But as I said, I do think it has the potential of getting frustrating over time. I hope that doesn’t end up happening because I quite like it so far. I like the issue this anime has picked to address and I hope that it finds a way to address that without making the series too much handle. That probably won’t happen but a man can hope at the very least.

So the whole premise of the anime is that Hananoi is too dedicated to his relationships. He is the kind of person who would actually look for a needle in a haystack for his girlfriend. Even going as far as proclaiming it is fine if he dies for her happiness. And he expects the same kind of dedication from his partners. This is not healthy of course and this is why he ends up getting dumped quite often. That is until he met our female MC, Hinase who is willing to put up with him only because she doesn’t understand what loving someone outside of her family means.

All this creates an interesting dynamic between both our main characters. And I really do think that this anime has the potential to be really good. I just hope that it doesn’t end up getting too frustrating for me. For now, I feel comfortable giving it a 7/10.

That is all for now!

Let me know what you guys think in the comments. It will be very interesting to see where my impressions of A Condition Called Love land in the end. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
