Angel Next Door Season 2 Episode 5 was a tactical nuke

Article at a glance:
- If you thought the first few episodes were sweet, Episode 5 is basically a direct injection of pure syrup that’ll have you screaming at the ref for a mercy rule.
- The hometown arc provided some much-needed closure on Amane’s past, showing off a mature side that proves his “flirt game” definitely picked up some pointers from his dad.
- Between the “cringe-but-cute” aggressive flirting and the genuine emotional growth, Season 2 is firmly cementing itself as an absolute banger of the Spring 2026 lineup.

I know the past few episodes had been like one diabetes shot after another, but Angel Next Door Season 2 Episode 5 was just something else. I have no idea how I am going to tank another 7 episodes of this season, given how insanely sweet it has been. The whole mini-arc of Amane returning home and confronting some of his past issues with Mahiru was really well done. Amane’s parents are really well-written as well, basic but effective. And then Episode 5 dropped, and it was just pure sugar from start to finish.
So yeah, welcome to the first mid-season review of the Spring 2026 season. Today, we are talking about Angel Next Door Season 5 Episode 2. Also, drinking game: take a sip every time I mention something sweet in this article lol. So let’s get started.

What did I think of Angel Next Door Season 2 Episode 5?
First, let’s quickly talk about Amane’s hometown visit arc in general. I really enjoyed the arc overall. We get a good look at how living with Mahiru has changed Amane. I really liked how mature Amane was towards his former classmates, who had made his life miserable. Even in Episode 5, I liked how he interacted with that other guy. Both of them knew they wouldn’t likely see each other again and just exchanged a few curt words and put their collective pasts to rest. Small moments like these are handled with surprising restraint and maturity,
And then episode 5 continues, and holy shit, it’s the sweetest thing ever. It is like Mahiru and Amane just can’t help but flirt. They’ve both been getting pretty aggressive lately, and yeah, they say a lot of cringe shit. But they KNOW it’s cringe and do it anyway. And I love how it even catches them off guard when the other partner says something insane. And I really do think Amane took some lessons from his dad when they were back home because his flirt game has been getting better and better since the home visit, lmfao.

All in all, peak season so far, I have to say. Between Amane dealing with his past issues, him and Mahiru getting genuinely closer and opening up, and the season being sweet as hell, I am very curious about how things will progress from here on. The number of times I screamed “REF, DO SOMETHING, HE’S NOT EVEN TRYING” throughout episode 5 has to be studied lmfao.
That is all for now
But yeah, let me know what you guys think of Angel Next Door Season 2 so far in the comments. Absolute banger of a season if you ask me. With that said, though, I will take my leave here. See ya!
