Nobara!! Best Episodes of the Week!

Key points for Best Episodes of the Week – Fall 2023, Week 10:

  • This week’s Jujutsu Kaisen episode hit me emotionally.
  • I enjoyed seeing Sword Maiden’s character development in Goblin Slayer Season 2 Episode 9. Her fear of goblins and the evolving dynamic with Goblin Slayer added depth to the story.
  • Shield Hero Season 3 Episode 9 impressed me with its emphasis on teamwork. Unlike Season 1, Naofumi now relies on his party, and the episode’s quality, including the fight scenes, stood out.
  • Ragna Crimson Episode 10 elevated my respect for Kamui. His understanding and acceptance of Ultimatia’s quirks brought depth to their characters, making the episode enjoyable.
  • Dr. Stone: New World Part 2 Episode 8 provided a gratifying conclusion to the arc. The fast-paced episode, coupled with Senku’s reflective moment, left me eager for the remaining three episodes.

If you watched Jujutsu Kaisen this week, you know why I titled this article “Nobara”… JJK has been going pretty crazy for the last few weeks, right? And this week was probably the biggest “surprise”. I know that the series has been going through a lot of behind-the-scenes trouble and I really wish I didn’t have all those issues spoiling my enjoyment of this season but I can’t ignore those issues either.

That isn’t what we are here to talk about though. I have to say this week didn’t have that many action-heavy episodes but I still think that this week had some of the best episodes of the season. Shield Hero had an awesome conclusion to Gaelion’s mini-arc, Goblin Slayer had an entertaining as-hell episode, Dr. Stone gave us a satisfying closure to the Treasure Island arc and Ragna Crimson had a fun episode as well.

So yeah, welcome back to another Best Episode of the Week article. It is the 10 week of the Fall 2023 Season. And let’s talk about everything from the Nobara incident to Ultimatia. Let’s go.

Goblin Slayer Season 2 Episode 9

The Sword Maiden heirs Goblin Slayer and his party to escort her to a meeting. Why? Well of course, because there are goblins in the way. We all know that the Sword Maiden is afraid of the goblins because of her PTSD but I think this is the first episode where we truly get to see just how scared of them she really is. She started sweating the moment she heard a shriek from one of the goblins.

Looks like in the following episodes, she will get more character development. In this episode alone, she had a really good moment with Goblin Slayer. And I appreciate that she is getting more screen time. Before that, we also opened the episode with some entertaining banter about Goblin Slayer with the Kappas and how everyone else pretty much gaslit Goblin Slayer into accepting that request. Fun episode.

Shield Hero Season 3 Episode 9

The Dragon Emperor was finally defeated. And I love how much of a team effort it was. In Season 1, Naofumi would often just solo things. But that is not the case in this season. Not only have the enemies been much stronger, but Naofumi is also still suffering from the curse of traveling to Kizuna’s world. So he is much weaker than he normally should be. This episode also showed just how hard it has become for him to use the wrath shield.

We got a cool and quick backstory for Wyndia in this episode as well; how she was raised by the original Gaelion and stuff. Ren’s character also grew a bit in this episode, the interaction between him and Wyndia at the end of the episode was such a cool little touch. So yeah, even if I put aside the epic fight scenes, this was still a great episode.

Ragna Crimsom Episode 10

Ok, this episode gave me new respect for Kamui. He knew that Ultimatia was a bad mental state and he knew exactly what to do to get her out of it. He also straight out admitted that he has a thing for her and doesn’t see her this “angle” she thinks she is. And rather sees her as a girl who just has a screw loose and he is into that. Honestly, I don’t blame him. But the character development for Ultimatia and Kamui in the last part was excellent. Despite the dragons’ belief in their superiority, they are not vastly different from humans. This scene proved that.

Ragna and Crimson won the support of the Silverine Corps, and Kamui is now coming for Ragna. The upcoming Kamui vs. Ragna fight will be exciting as Ragna will be facing a genuinely powerful opponent who doesn’t rely on cheat abilities as Ultimatia did.

Dr. Stone: New World Part 2 Episode 8

This episode was the perfect conclusion to this arc. It was fast-paced, it started strong already because of how good last week’s cliffhanger was, and after that, it was just one twist after another. Ibara did not go down easily and then when he finally got caught in his own device, it was satisfying as hell. He got what was long overdue for him and the Medusa is finally in the hands of Senku.

At this point, we also get a great character moment for Senku in which he reflects how once again, he is alone again as everyone else is petrified, just like how it was back when he first woke up. But then he realizes that he isn’t alone anymore and his friends are still there, waiting to be freed from the stone. I can’t wait to see what the remaining 3 episodes have to offer.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 19

Spoiler Alert, please catch up before reading this section

This article is dedicated to Nobara. She will be missed, and this episode made sure that her passing hurt us as much as it possibly could. Damn you, Mahito. No, you know what, damn you Gege for continuously taking away one fan-favorite after another. I can’t even imagine the mental state Yuuji must be in right now. The whole thing with Sukuna happened, then Nanami happened and now it is Nobara. Poor guy can’t catch a break.

As for the rest of the episode, we got a lot of info on Nobara, her upbringing, and all the stuff like that, As I said, this episode ensured that her passing hurt as much as it could. Before that, Nobara was actually having a pretty good fight against Mahito’s clone. And Yuuji was handling the original a short distance away. I won’t comment on the production quality again though, because we all know the behind-the-scenes issues plaguing this anime right now.

That is all for now!

Either way, that is all for this week. It was a busy week and it doesn’t look like next week will let up either. I am not sure if I’ll even be able to write next week, we will see about that though. Those were my favorite episodes from this week. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here. See ya!!
