Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Adds Classic Sonic, Axel, and Amigo

Sega has unveiled new characters coming to Sonic Racing CrossWorlds during Sonic’s Birthday livestream. Fans can expect Classic Sonic to be available starting Tuesday. Additionally, Axel from Crazy Taxi will join the game in August, followed by Amigo from Samba de Amigo in September.

Along with these new characters, the game will introduce music from several of Sega’s rhythm-based titles. Tracks from Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure, Feel the Magic: XY/XX, The Rub Rabbits!, and Space Channel 5 will add fresh sounds for players to enjoy while racing.

Sonic Racing CrossWorlds first launched last September across multiple platforms. These include PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The game also saw releases for Nintendo’s new Switch 2 console, with an upgrade option available for existing Switch owners and separate physical editions.

The game has been known for its crossovers with various franchises. Players have previously seen characters like Hatsune Miku, Ichiban from Like a Dragon, and Joker from Persona 5 join the race. Past collaborations also included SpongeBob SquarePants, Mega Man, Pac-Man, and Minecraft.

Looking ahead, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is set to feature collaborations with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in July and Avatar: The Last Airbender in October as part of Year One. Year Two plans will introduce collaborations with Godzilla and Evangelion, along with new worlds to explore.

The Sonic Birthday livestream also marked the launch of Sonic Frontiers – Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2. This enhanced edition adds more to the Sonic franchise and launched on the same day as these exciting Racing CrossWorlds updates.

With these new characters and music additions, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds continues to expand its roster and content, delighting fans of Sega’s rich gaming history.
