I wanted to give the title to Mushoku Tensei for this week because Season 2 Episode 17 was amazing. But I just made an article on it so picked my 2nd favorite episode from this week for the title. Kaiju No. 8 Episode 4 was a great closure to this physical exam sub-arc and it was a blast to watch from start to finish. That is not all though. I remember saying just last week that I don’t know how the Season gets any better than this but it did and this week was full of bagner episodes.

Shame that Ranger Reject Episode 5 is delayed. If we had that episode too, this week would be even better. Still, we had some awesome episodes this week as is. Wind Breaker did a great job of expanding on its characters through the fight scenes in episode 5. KonoSuba Season 3 continues to be unhinged and funny and lastly, it is a good season for Yuri with animes like Whisper Me a Love Song around.

So welcome back to another edition of the best episodes of the week! It is the 5th week of the Spring 2024 season, let’s take a look at everything awesome from this week from Wind Breaker Episode 5 to Kaiju No. 8 Episode 4! Here are my favorite episodes of the week!

Wind Breaker Episode 5

Honestly, this episode turned out to be better than I expected. I knew that we were gonna get some cool fights and all given the setup for this arc so far, but I did not expect a great showing of character writing in this episode as well. And what does this anime do to showcase its character writing? Like a true delinquent anime, it does it through fights. Sugishita’s fight was pretty much a squash. He chokeslammed his opponent for the victory and it was satisfying.

No, the fight I am referring to is Suou’s fight. Among the main characters, Suou is the person we know the least about. And it is the same for the team as well. They just know that he isn’t someone you mess with but no one seems to know why. Well, Suou himself proved it in this fight. He is often described as a “kind man” but he is one twisted SoB. During the whole fight, he was just toying with this opponent and breaking him down emotionally, all the while maintaining a wide grin on his face. Awesome.

Whisper Me a Love Song Episode 4

Well, well, well, the plot thickens. I won’t spoil the plot twist at the end of the episode but I have to say, they had been building towards this twist for quite some time now. So good execution on their part. The twist is what made this episode stand out, sure. But even without the twist, this episode was quite enjoyable. Yori is quite desperate to impress Himari and hence finally decides to join the school band.

But because of this, there are days when Yori can’t meet Himari after school. And man, it was so funny seeing Himari trying to figure out what she would do on “No Yori-senpai days” lol. She settles on the cooking club, they don’t meet every day either so it is quite convenient for her and hey, she can make cookies and stuff for Yori now. So while this was a perfectly enjoyable episode as is, the ending and its implications turned it into a great one.

KonoSuba Season 3 Episode 4

I won’t spoil who the thief targeting the noble families was because the true identity of the thief leads to some hilarious scenes that you should totally go watch for yourself. But the season continues to be unhinged as hell with one of the best scenes in the episode being Kazuma getting trapped in a Bind spell lol. Also, Megumin sweet-talked Kazuma into going on a date but of course, she only needed him to carry her back after she released her explosion magic. What else do you expect? Its Megumin.

I know that the lord whose place Kazuma and the party were staying at to catch the thief is a douche and all but Kazuma isn’t much better lol. You will know what I mean when you watch the episode for yourself. I am avoiding spoilers here because certain scenes you just have to see firsthand to get a good laugh out of. Pure unhinged fun. I love KonoSuba lol.

Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 17

I just did a whole dedicated article for this episode alone so I will keep it short here. For me, this is by far the best episode of the Spring 2024 season so far. I have no what or how will anything surpass this. This episode is a huge reason why I am holding this week in general in such high regard. Mushoku Tensei excels in two things: character-driven stories and world-building. Season 2 Episode 17 nailed the former aspect of the show, giving us one of the best episodes of the series.

Norn shuts herself in because of different reasons and the episode focuses on giving us Norn’s thoughts on why things ended up like this. But more importantly, the episode shows Rudy’s desperation in wanting to help her out of her situation. He knows how it feels to be a shut-in from his previous life, a decision he truly regrets and he does not want his sister to end up like that as well. The episode is titled “A Brother’s Feelings” and the title couldn’t be more firing. What an amazing episode.

Kaiju No. 8 Episode 4

This episode did so many things right. First and foremost, we got a pretty big revelation about the Kaiju in this episode. They are much smarter than they look and apparently, a certain Kaiju can revive and evolve other defeated Kaiju. So just when the exam is about to be over, all the Kaiju that the examinees killed are revived and they are much stronger than before. The episode did a fantastic job of setting up Kikoru as a badass in the first half. The exam had more than the expected number of survivors because of her taking out so many Kaiju on her own.

So it hits even harder when the revived Kaiju just beats her around near the end of the episode. And of course, she is saved by our man, Kafka in a really cool scene. Kafka’s Kaiju transformation is cool as is but when they direct its fighting scenes like this, it becomes even cooler. Kafka and especially Kikoru had some nice character moments too. Kaiju No. 8 Episode 4 was a complete package and I loved it.

That is all for now!

Let me know what you guys think in the comments. Those were my favorite episodes from this week. What a week it has been. With that said, I will take my leave here. It is 3:30 in the morning, I am off to sleep. See ya!
