Top 5 Anime of 2024… First Half

Article at a glance:

  • Dangers in My Heart Season 2 – Once disliked, now a top-tier romance anime, worth the struggle of Season 1’s first half.
  • Sound Euphonium Season 3 – Highlights Kumiko’s growth into a 3rd-year student and club president, continuing the series’ excellence.
  • Kaiju No. 8 – Despite a cliche plot, its well-written characters and their interactions, along with stellar voice acting and animation, make it standout.
  • Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Part 2 – Showcases Rudeus’s growth and complex challenges, with standout arcs.
  • KonoSuba Season 3 – Delivers pure, chaotic fun, meeting high expectations for the season.

The list surprised me with more anime from the Spring 2024 season than I expected. The one anime from the Winter season is a strong competitor for anime of the year though. Since almost half of the year is done, I thought, why not cover my top 5 anime from 2024 so far? This list is still subject to change, of course. And these are just my opinions. So keeping the introduction short here, let’s get started right away!

If you have been following the website for a while, near the end of the year I do a top 10 animes of the year list. Consider this the half-yearly version of that. This is still subject to change, of course. I may pick different anime from the same two seasons when I look back at them at the end of the year. And of course, these are just my opinions. So here are my top 5 anime of 2024 so far!

The list is in no particular order.

Dangers in My Heart Season 2

Man, there was a time when I did not like this anime. Now, I consider Season 2 to be one of the best romance anime. Sticking through season 1 was at times painful. But if you do it, you will be rewarded with this masterpiece. I don’t know how much of this list will change by the end of the year. But I can promise you, this anime will still be present on it. I adore this anime and it is definitely one of the best anime of the year so far.

Sound Euphonium Season 3

I would be a lie if I said I didn’t miss the old characters like Asuka and Natsuki. But seeing Kumiko all grown up as a person and now a 3rd-year student also fills me with joy. Not long ago, she was just a freshman in high school. Now, not only has she grown as a person but she is the president of the club as well. Sound Euphonium Season 3 continues to refine all the aspects that make this series special and then some. I am glad to have found this series.

Kaiju No. 8

Another anime I am glad I picked up. Despite the seemingly cliche plot, the characters and the unique setting of this anime make it more than worth it. Almost everything interesting in this anime revolves around its characters. The characters are well-written with a relatable MC in Kafka and they are quite well voice-acted as well, bringing their banter to life. All of this is complimented by some awesome and violent fights with some amazing animations.

Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Part 2

This season has been a roller coaster ride. Rudeus is dealing with the challenges of adulthood for the first time, seeking advice and considering others’ opinions; showcasing his overall growth perfectly. Norn’s arc was fantastic, and Turning Point 3 twisted the whole show around once again. Despite not having as much action as Season 1, Season 2 has been amazing so far.

KonoSuba Season 3

Are you really surprised? Come on, if you have been keeping up here, you’d have known KonoSuba Season 3 was bound to be here sooner or later. Throw every bit of objective praise I gave to the previous animes here out of the window. KonoSuba Season 3 is just pure chaotic, unhinged fun and I am here for every moment of it. Exactly what we all wanted from this season and we got what we asked.

That is all for now!

Well, let me know what you guys think in the comments. I am fairly certain that these will be my top 5 pics from these two seasons going into the top 10 anime of 2024 list as well. But again, things can change. I also think that I covered a good blend of genres here. So yeah, I’ll take my leave. See ya!
