Goblin Slayer Season 2, More Details Announced!!

Oh man, I’ve been waiting to hear about this anime for so long. After that initial announcement, this anime completely disappeared from the radar. It went radio silent for so long that I was worried it got canned at one point. If you remember, Goblin Slayer Season 2 was announced around the same time as Demon Slayer Season 2. And now, it has been a year since Demon Slayer Season 2 ended. No worries though, we finally have more details about this anime.

So welcome back to another one of my articles! Today we are talking about Goblin Slayer Season 2. It got a bunch of news announcements recently so let’s cover those. I will save my thoughts for after that. The news should be exciting and the anime is coming pretty soon so let’s get started.

What do we know about Goblin Slayer Season 2?

The official website of Goblin Slayer Season 2 revealed a bunch of stuff yesterday (5th January 2023). They revealed the main staff and cast for the anime. Of course, all of the main cast from the previous season will be reprising their roles. The staff on the other hand is a little different this once because the anime has shifted from White Fox Studios to LIDENFILMS. The main director is the same, Takaharu Ozaki. But we have a new assistant director, a series composed, and a character designer.

We got a teaser PV too, which you can check out right here. I am a little skeptical about the staff/studio change, which I will explain in detail below. But I still wish the best of luck to LIDENFILMS and their people for this anime.

My Thoughts

A few weeks ago, I was poking fun at Mappa for a busy pipeline but now LIDENFILMS is doing the same idiocy. Granted, none of their projects are as high profile as Mappa but still, they have like 5 or 6 animes coming out this year now. Which is wild, please take care of your employees, guys. One other complaint I have is that the animations don’t look “gritty” enough. The art style of season 1 had a dark feeling to it, you’d immediately recognize it’s from Goblin Slayer. That feeling is gone, the art style looks like an average fantasy anime now. I hope that they remedy it somewhat in the final release.

Those two complaints aside, I am really glad to have more info on Goblin Slayer season 2. Looking forward to another good season. I just hope that the new staff and studio manage to keep the charm of the first season and the movie. I genuinely love this series and I want to see it done well.
